Braganca squad

Dear blog readers,

A short story update today. Just want to share full set of Braganca players profiles:

Pay attention two centre backs Couto and Jaka were signed for free during transfer window. I didn't manage to perform any other transfers just because of inability to sell a couple of existing players or even release them using mutual contract termination.

Board doesn't expect too much from me as you can see from the picture below. But I have ambitions and want to do my best creating working tactics that can bring us to domination in the low level league. Portuguese National Championship should become an interesting and exciting race for promotion!

That's all for now. Stay tuned. Next time I will be ready to tell about my first matches of Dream Job story.

Excited to blog for you,

About lowest Portuguese league rules

Blog post 859

Hello dear readers,

Today I would like to describe what awaits me as Braganca manager in the first season in Portugal. The third level league is called Portuguese National Championship (PNC). I know the blog is visited by many readers from Portugal, however there are more people from other countries. And I suspect most of you don't know how much PNC is complicated and entertaining as it was with me till this weekend.

Welcome to Braganca!

Blog post 858

Hello dear blog readers,

I want to tell you my first club was found quite quickly. Those clubs that were available at the start rejected me, even Girknyk Sport from Ukrainian First League. Though I understand the league has the 62nd reputation in European rating.

All of sudden vacancy in the lowest league of Portugal was opened. I applied to Braganca and received the job promising to win promotion in the very first year. A risky step but I don't afraid challenges and this time don't afraid to be sacked. Anyway it's a bottom level and I'll be able to find another team if things go bad :)

Dream Job story is starting up

Blog post 857

Hello dear readers,
Yesterday's night I had an opportunity to start my Dream Job story. So I am ready to account for my first actions and here are the first screenshots made in FM 2015.

Nations selection

I decided to stick with nearly the same nations as I always opt in every new Football Manager with a little exception: Russia is not included. I just don't want to have an option to manage Russian clubs.

Dream Job story. Targets and expectations

From unemployed to Arsenal manager is a radically new concept of Football Manager story for me. Every new game in FM or CM was starting with club selection. I never played starting in unemployed mode as totally unknown rookie head coach.

So here are some conditions and principles for Dream Job story:

  • Start as unemployed manager.
  • Find the first job in any of playable leagues.
  • Do not stick with one team. Change jobs to reach Arsenal manager position as fast as possible.
  • Be pragmatic and result-oriented manager.
  • Don't experiment much till becoming Arsenal manager.
  • Make Arsenal a top club in the world!

This time there will not be any kind of artificial restrictions like 'sign players of home-biased nationality' or 'use rigid tactics'.
My aim is to get into Arsenal by any cost as quick as possible.
I understand I should be a very lucky to achieve the set target. Just because it's not enough to improve my manager reputation up to Premier League level. I should wait a moment when Arsenal head coach will leave the club or get fired.

Anyway, absolutely unpredictable and exciting story is guaranteed for me and you!

Excited to blog for you,

Wonderkids 6 years ago: FM 09 => FM 15

Hello guys,

This year became the first one when I decided not to create any player lists at True Football Manager blog. It's easy to explain: I want to focus on playing FM 2015 as much as possible. Moreover, there are many different sites like FM Scout creating such list for those who like to have easy hints about young gem footballers.

Despite that I couldn't miss looking onto wonderkids in the new Football Manager at all. That's why this time I implemented an idea I had always in mind:

  1. Take the old wonderkid list blog post (FM 2009)
  2. Visit profile of every player there.
  3. Try to review how player was successful during the timespan.

I invented Success Rate attribute for this blog update to show up my personal relation to progress of every FM 2009 wonderkid. 100% of Success Rate stands for complete success and world star status. Low values closer to 0% mean absolute failure in career and development.

Now enjoy! :-)

FM15 Beta: UI, Scouting, Match Engine and other new features

Blog post 855

At this point I don't play Football Manager 2015 Beta, just try to visit all screens and attentively look at all new features developed by SI Games. Consider this blog update as a sequel of the previous one. Let's take a look what I dug out.

New UI

In general I am impressed with how the new user interface is constructed. It's actually the best one in all series. Top advantages of this UI are:
  • Excellent smooth animations
  • Left sidebar which is very helpful for gamers, in particular inexperienced ones
  • Top search bar with embedded browser of nations and clubs
  • Modern plain controls and panels

FM 2015 Beta. To play or not to play?

Blog post #853

That is the question. I am not sure if I should start Dream Job story now or wait two weeks till the official release with fix of critical issues.

Surely, I can see many cool things Sports Interactive Games added this year. Revamped UI is awesome, everybody praises the smooth match engine with realistic player moves and ball physics… But there are some problems making me to hesitate much.

Official list of known issues from SI Games

We got this list right with FM Beta release.

Season 9. The beginning

Blog post #847

Hello dear readers,

According to the latest news FM 2015 will be released quite soon (November, 7). So I should hurry up with AZ story. Moreover, it’s my only chance to play full season with this club.

The beginning is really successful, though as I actually expected. Surely there are pretty much problems with squad blending of new players. But all my players are too good comparing to the most Eredivisie teams. Currently just Ajax, PSV and Groningen have better squads.

FM 15 story. Instead of poll

Dear blog readers,

I am really excited by your activity and comments written to the last post! I got impression there’s one absolute leader among all three ideas of FM 2015 story. So there’s merely no sense in the poll this year. Just take look at the stats of votes given by you in the comments:

Dream job story got 16 votes. It’s about starting as unemployed manager and try to become Arsenal head coach. There was a nice addition: manage clubs of different countries, don’t stick with England.

Deportivo against Spanish grands received 4 votes as well as new AZ story.

Here are also some alternative ideas suggested by you:

  • Basque team (Athletic, Osasuna) – 2 votes
  • Start in MLS – 2
  • Middle/Lower tier Oceania/Asia club – 1
  • Dinamo Zagreb – 1
  • Swansea/Aston Villa – 1
  • Win CL with club outside England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France

Bottom line

I will start the dream job story as soon as Football Manager 2015 release happens.

I had never such kind of experience since the moment I had begun playing Football Manager (1996). It’s pleasant to realize starting unemployed would fit the name of this blog: True Football Manager.

Excited to blog for you,

Ideas for my FM 2015 story

FM 2015 Story

Hello guys,

Thank you for joining me again. This blog post no. 841 is totally dedicated to future year with new game. Unluckily, we have no news about it. It’s quite strange because normally first news appear in August and there are  lots of interesting things and new features to discuss in September… Nevertheless, I am sure SI Games will produce another amazing game with improved Match Engine and AI.

I am really going to play new FM 2015 as frequently as I had been doing that during last years. Undoubtedly, I will continue writing to the blog at least twice per week accounting for story progress in the same style. What I need now is to determine future type of FM15 story. Hope you will help me!
