Blog post #851

Welcome back to my blog! Dear readers, today I want to tell you how Dresden/AZ story completed. This long and quite complicated journey in Football Manager 2014 is over for me and you now.

Outcome of Dutch Cup

Dutch Cup was my only serious intrigue in the 9th season during two last months. So let me begin with the semi-final encounter against ADO Den Haag.

In one blog post till the story end

Hi my dear readers,

I have some kind of mixed feelings. It always happens when you have to stop playing your current save and switch to a new one. Football Manager 15 Beta will be released this Friday, that is the reason why I decided to accelerate current AZ story. Normally I play matches in Comprehensive mode. For the sake of story progress, all reported matches were played with highlights in Extended/Key mode.

AZ matches

There were no winter transfers this time. The only change: left back Wielinga with Abysmal morale was loaned out because we broke off due to his wish of playing in the first eleven.

As for the results I am pretty happy with them.

4-match test for AZ

Blog post #849

Hello dear readers,

The latest 4 matches could either bring my AZ to a group of title contenders or push out of Top 4 decreasing Champions League qualification chances considerably. Away games against Twente and Ajax + home encounter with Groningen could be turn into anything from 0-point story to 3 wins.

Well I passed the test with decent result.

Quite complicated season interval

Squad revolution I did not want

Blog post #845

Hello dear blog readers,

Hot summer transfer campaign is over for AZ. All of sudden lots of squad changes were made. I was intending to save a squad skeleton and build upon it but key defenders Mitchell Dijks and Wesley van der Vall rocked me with requests to move to bigger clubs. There was no chance to hold them in AZ…

Disharmonious low position at season finish

Dear blog readers,

This is blog update #843. My first season with AZ (season 8 in the whole story) is completed. Unluckily, I cannot brag about the results because I didn’t manage to achieve Top 8 and even dropped to the 14th position after all.  Just as a little excuse: AZ finished in 4 points from the 9th place.

Four AZ matches

Hi dear readers,

Thanks for coming back to True Football Manager blog. I want to share the latest news from my FM 2014 in this blog update #840.

AZ story continues after some squad changes made in January. That’s nice I can boast with 3 wins in 4 matches! I’m proud to tell you two of them were achieved over Dutch football leaders Ajax and Twente.

First transfer campaign in AZ

Hello dear readers,

I had two options before January:

  • Leave squad as it is and gain a middle league position reliably
  • Make transfers taking some risks

You know me :) The the latter option was more tempting, that’s for sure. Moreover, I thought it’s won’t be difficult to keep my club away from relegation zone even having squad blending process of new players.

First experience as AZ head coach

Dear blog readers,

Hello and welcome back again. As you know I changed the job: Dresden story got transformed into AZ story. Today I am ready to account for the first matches and new tactics chosen for AZ. Let’s start with the tactics.

So here is my first AZ blog post. As you remember season 8 began and my new club is at the bottom of Eredivisie. Today I want to make squad review quickly sharing information about current players in my disposal.

Bye Belgium… Hello Holland!

Dear blog readers,

My Euro 2020 story has a sudden end. I merely didn’t manage to beat Greece in the first knockout round. That turned into an absolute surprise for me. But, to be fair, Greece wondered me with keen counter-attacking moves and very good tactical approach…

Leading Belgium at Euro 2020

Hi guys,

Welcome back to True Football Manager blog! As you know Dresden story turned into Belgium story while I have been in a job search of my next club. Belgium quite confidently qualified to Euro 2020 and was considered by Sky Bet as the 7th nation in the tournament. Well here I have a strong squad with all impressive areas but defence.

Seeking for a new job

Hello dear blog readers,

It’s weird to be unemployed after all. Though it’s fair as for me. Even after having read some of your comments to the last blog update, I think I did right resigning from Dresden. It was realistic behaviour based on bad results caused by weak transfer policy. I was too careless during every next transfer window…

Dynamo Dresden save

First and foremost I am glad to share my save file stored right after Dresden resignation. I think that’s a nice idea. You can download it and follow one of the scenarios:

  • Bring Belgium to success on Euro 2020 (I’ll try to do the same)
  • Seek for a new club using my coach account
  • Add new head coach and manage Dynamo Dresden

Or anything else. Just download the file and play Football Manager.

Four matches can pivot FM story

Hello dear readers,

Another Dresden story update today. Though this time it’s very unusual one, I would say unique. Remember I was intending to win all 3 next matches in the last article? Well here are the results. Stunning results. My Dresden manage to get beaten in all games including friendly match with Krasnodar. As a result I got 100% depressed…

Squad blending continues

Hello dear readers,

Blog post 828 is dedicated to progress of Dynamo Dresden in season 7. Squad revolution is already behind, ambitions and expectations are very high. Though current squad blending doesn’t allow to see stable performances so easy as one would want.

In general our team play improved but we faced some problems in away games. Particularly, it was sad to loose in German Cup against Gladbach. They sobered me with my wish to win the cup this year… Unfortunately, I must concentrate on German national league now.

Three defeats and two conceded goals against Wolfsburg were caused in a large part by poor performances of substitute goalkeepers. My main goalie Fabian Giefer got injured for  one month…

Season 7. It can be the last one

Dear readers,

Welcome back to my blog. The post title sounds somewhat pessimistic but I hope I will continue to manage Dynamo Dresden onwards. Tactical and squad revamping cannot give immediate effect and I should for the second half of the season to say something concrete. Currently 7 Bundesliga fixtures played and here what I have after all.

Squad revolution before season 7

Hello blog readers,

It’s time to uncover all summer transfers I made. Season 7 will be played using “win or die” principle. If I don’t manage to get into Top 3, there’s no way to continue Dresden story. That’s why I was very careful with squad changes taking only those players which I believe in.

This is a squad revolution, the largest in Dynamo Dresden story!

New awesome tactics for Dresden

Hello dear blog readers,

825. That is the blog post number actually. Its news are very important because I changed Dresden tactic set that had been used since the very first season. Look what I have prepared for season 7.

Tactics 1. Best of the old

I selected Half-Back tactics as the best of all old ones. Results became a leading factor to make this kind of selection.

If you want to know more or recall some details, just read about Half-Back based tactics in this this blog update:
