Wonderful Christmas time

Blog post 894

Hello my FM fellows,

Another episode of Dream Job story is ready for you. This week I had a birthday becoming 33 years old and remaining still very inspired to play Football Manager and share my experience with you. Normally I take a vacation day every birthday and have some addition leisure time. It wasn't an exception this time as well :) Finally, I managed to reach the mid-season time with Crystal Palace.

Latest results including Christmas interval

5 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses

That's what I do like! There was a single game failed match against Newcastle. All other matches were played with inspiration, excellent teamwork and beautiful football style. One may say it's can be temporary series but I feel Crystal Palace is going up to the next level.

Beating Southampton - absolute revelation!

Surely, surely, you've noticed that unbelievable 7:0 score among the results. Well, that was just amazing! I could not expect such a record. My team was totally outperforming The Saints leading 4:0 in the second half. But then Aaron Cresswell managed to grab the red card what helped us to score three times more. Ye, it's the seventh heaven for Crystal Palace and absolute shame for Ronald Koeman!

So many 9.x match ratings!

This wonderful game helped me Crystal Palace to occupy 9 of 11 place in Team of the Week!

Christmas time

I was very cautious during this period because both Manchester grand club had to visit us at Selhurst Park. It's great we managed to oppose and make two draws in equal matches. We were not able to stop Sergio Aguero, otherwise we would even win that match with Man City

I was glad even more to see our first real fight with Manchester United because they had always beating Palace quite easily till this time.  Just think: their lowest total player attribute is the 4th in the league! That's what Man Utd team report uncovered.

The whole match was played in counter-attacking style with asymmetric tactic. We were pretty good in defence and make all skeptics to get shut up.

Player ratings for the match:

After all I got this screen in the FM inbox and understood I have even chances to compete for Europa League places this season. At least I am going to continue the team great form onwards.

Premier League table standing

10th position is not that high as one could expect reading all those positive news above. However, take a closer look at team points and you'll see Palace is just 3 points from the 6th place. Sounds very optimistic as for me!

Pay attention Liverpool with outstanding Coutinho and Sturridge has 7-point gap from other English top clubs.

Crystal Palace players

Many good news here. Squad blending of summer newbies is coming to an end. Finally, Ciro Immobile began to score goals and justify his highest salary of $105K per week. Aiden McGeady is the best loaned player now. He scored key goals making the results against Man City and Reading. I am also happy about wonderkid Martin Odegaard, he became more mature and gets more match practice as a result.

Dwight Gayle is disappointed I didn't cope with the task to sell him. So he's is a black sheep with very poor morale but regardless he still score goals. It's quite weird but can be explained by excellent form of the whole team.

Christian Fuchs recovered from long-term injured and became my leading left-back. Thusly, Joel Ward was moved to the right flank and now it's seems an optimal scheme to me.

MVP - Jonny Williams

Welsh talent and fans' player of the last season had an uncertain season start. But now he is already on a roll as the whole team.  His key passing stats is the second in the league after marvelous Coutinho. A smart guy and good technician. Palace should progress much to hold him in the squad.

Future fixtures and plans

Hope to win against defensive Aston Villa because they use 4-1(DM)-4-1 formation and base all attacks via central forward using direct passing. Good personal marking of the forward normally helps a lot. Afterwards The Eagles must play three away matches that may cause morale decrease. It's going to be tough to play away matches versus Chelsea and Arsenal. There also will be some FA cup match after draw. It should add pressure on my players in January.

As far as winter transfers are concerned I am not going to be an active player on the market this time. Currently I have one serious problem: Dwight Gayle with very poor morale. I'll try to sell him once again and acquire some other good forward to use in rotation with Immobile.

That's all for now. Thanks for joining me. Feel free to comment anything in this blog update.

Excited to blog for you,
