Four AZ matches

Hi dear readers,

Thanks for coming back to True Football Manager blog. I want to share the latest news from my FM 2014 in this blog update #840.

AZ story continues after some squad changes made in January. That’s nice I can boast with 3 wins in 4 matches! I’m proud to tell you two of them were achieved over Dutch football leaders Ajax and Twente.

Dutch grand defeated!

That was awesome. My boys managed to control flanks and protect goalie from flamboyant inside forwards from Ajax. In total it was a bit slow game. Both teams played more defensive way trying to win ball possession.

Beating Twente – the 4th Dutch team

Away 2:1 victory against Twente was probably even more exciting than the one I had over Ajax. The point is in total advantage my team had. Just look at the match stats below. There were no red cards, just Twente being completely outperformed by AZ. Quincy Promes and Ruud Vormer ruled the midfield and delivered so important and inspiring win.

As you see these 3 wins raised up AZ to the 9th table line what looks really prospective. I was surprised to realize my team has all chances to qualify into Europa League for the next season. It’s all because of Dutch qualification rules:

You see that? Team from the range from 5th to 8th position will compete for European places in playoff matches. Isn’t that awesome?! :)

AZ players inspire me as well as prospective to get into Europa. Nice team I should confess. I like personalities in the squad and won’t carry out agressive transfer policy anymore like it was in Dresden.

Most confident performance was shown by AZ leaders: centre back Mitchell Dijks and advanced playmaker Quincy Promes. They became key players in all three wins.

January newcomer began their career in AZ quite decently. Striker Diego Rubio didn’t show super-class football but his play is already better than what I had seen  from Ivan Bozovic. Hope Rubio should start scoring often soon. Young talented Simonas Kavaliauskas looked somewhat bewildered while playing in his first matches for our club. From my experience I can say he’ll need more time to blend into squad.

Gianandrea Serantoni – AZ newbie

Actually nothing special. Another loan to make substitution bench longer. He had already managed to play in one game due to injuries. That was a single 0:2 loss to ADO Den Haag caused by Serantoni. Both goals came from his right flank…

Looking onto this schedule I can state I have all chances to get into Top 8 and qualify into Europa League next season! Do you agree with me? ;)
