Season 6 is completed

Dear readers,

I am glad to see you here again after my vacation week in Western Ukraine. You can enjoy some photos of my adventures in Facebook.

Meanwhile the most painful season in my Dresden career is finally over. Here is my shameful result. If you recall, Dynamo Dresden finished at the second league position last season… What can I say? It’s just a pain to fall so deep.

It was not so bad in winter but attacking impotence hindered to grab points and return to the middle of the table at least. Dynamo Dresden was wasteful in many matches. The most mind-blowing example here is home game against Hannover. We got defeated with 0:3 score and didn’t manage to seize on considerable advantage we had.

So the season is over. Normally I analyse player performance in details before every off-season. Can’t say I want to do it now because average ratings of players look so low… I don’t remember when I had similar experience last time in previous FM stories.

Well, there are many underachievers in Dresden squad and some of them will leave the team. Currently I can be only confident about Mattias Schelotto. He turned into my largest transfer mistake…

New contract

New contract

I had failed the national league performance and was hesitating about confidence of Dresden board members regarding me as a head coach. But the contract was signed following my promise to get Dynamo back into Top-5 German clubs.

Here are my league expectations claimed together with approved transfer and salary budgets.

In addition, I gave myself a new personal restriction for the next season:

I will leave Dynamo Dresden if I fail to revive our football and don’t qualify into European Cups.

It’s easy to win when you have such super-talents in your squad as Hazard, Fellaini, Courtois, Lukaku, Witsel, Januzaj…  With confident away victories over Hungary and Lithuania, it seems Belgium almost guaranteed the qualification. Surely, we’ll try to battle over the first place in the group.

Excited to blog for you,
