Devastation. Even more paradoxical

Dear blog readers,

Welcome back to my blog. It’s blog post #819 that looks even more paradoxical than the previous one. Here is the latest table standing, try to find Dynamo Dresden there.

It’s so shocking to see us in the relegation zone!

Latest matches

As you see I had many many defeats. If we count Bundesliga matches, here we see 2 wins, 2 draws, 4 losses. Poor, very poor result for club with ambitions to qualify into Champions League again. The ambitions are already calmed down as you understand…

Let’s take a look at the stats of those 4 lost matches. Additional 12 points would bring Dresden into Top-5 but we managed to make fools of ourselves with 0 points. All these games with exception of 1:4 loss to Wolfsburg show serious problems in efficiency of Dresden attacking force.

Dresden – Hertha 1:2

Hoffenheim – Dresden 2:0

Dresden – Mainz 1:2

Wolfsburg – Dresden 4:1

Champions League

As a contrast take a look Champions League results by Dynamo Dresden. First place in so tough group is just unbelievable if you try to merge it in your mind with 17th position in the Bundesliga…

My next opponent is Atletico Madrid. It’s difficult to predict something because I don’t know what squad and what tactics scheme will be used onwards.

Future knockout round

Board confidence

Now it’s important thing to track because I can be sacked at any time. In theory. But in practice Dresden board is still satisfied with performance due to marvellous Champions League results.

What’s next

How to explain the crisis? That is a question! I can single out three reasons:

  • Sale of Marko Pavlovski and failed attempts to replace him with William
  • William who plays for national team of Brazil cannot adapt my tactical approach at all
  • Squad is too young. Average age is a bit higher than 23 years.

What I am going to do is to fix current situation with another pack of transfers made in winter. Sign more experienced players, sell William and several of those who underperform…

According to what I see from matches, it’s not an issue with tactics.

Excited to blog for you,
