Lovely performance – excellent results

Dear blog readers,

After somewhat uncertain start my Nottm Forest returned to the way of glory. It was almost green one and a half of month including Champions League games. Just one draw happened in the match with Newcastle as you see below.

It’s especially pleasantly to see Forest defence playing much more reliable football. Thus we managed to concede only 7 goals in 11 matches. Awesome!

Premier League

Yes, the most attentive of you may say I had no grand clubs as opponents with exception of Chelsea. However, don’t forget that success in leagues depends on stability of a club in results. So it was very important to win away matches against Stoke and Burnley because both clubs had often been uncomfortable and as a result point-takers for my team.

I won’t discuss PL matches much. Just want you to take a look at the current table standing.

A very tough challenge is happening now. Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal seem to be the main title contenders together with Nottm Forest. The Red Devils with 8 goals conceded look particularly scaring. They won 4 titles in row and then lost the challenge to Arsenal in the last season. It seems Man Utd is going to return the status of the best English team this year.

Champions League

Brilliant performance in the Champions League allowed not only to qualify to the knockout stage after 4 group rounds but also win the first place what gives an advantage in draw. Bayern Munich used backup players at the City Ground and thus yielded Forest to the first place.

Surely, the best match of all reported and the most decisive one was against Lyon. My players were more keen at the final stage of attacks and managed to score 4 goals.

Couple of words about League Cup

I managed to qualify into the semifinals beating mighty Man City, uncomfortable Burnley, and unlucky Everton this year. Stoke (my semifinal opponent) is a serious one but it doesn’t seem the club that should stop my team. So I will have a chance to win the third League Cup in row. Though it will be very tough because the second semi final is Manchester United – Ipswich.

Forest players

First of all, I want to call your attention to performances of Nottm Forest newcomers. Steven Caulker was an awesome summer transfer. He blended into the squad with lightning speed and doesn’t differ by shown quality of football from Danny Bath and Jamaal Lascelles.

Young wonderkid Mo Cairns feels himself a bit confused during his debut season in the senior team. Well, the guy is just 18 years old. Though his average rating is not worse than Allen’s.

Ross Barkley had no much time to play and was decent in the matches when I used him. It’s too early to say something.

Fabio Coentrao. Still non-adapted in Forest. Kind of worrying for me because left back position is the the most problematic one now.

And finally Carlos Fierro has started to play much better and score goals. I can’t wait when Ademilson will recover from injury and continue playing with the talented Mexican together. The couple may explode Premier League with possible quantity of goals.

By the way, the last match against Stoke shown some problems with Coentrao and Fierro.

Mitchell Hewitt – MVP

Our leader and the best player of reported period. Mitchell Hewitt’s price can’t stop to grow and equals to $34M already.

Compare stats of Hewitt with other Forest centre backs:

Hewitt overcomes the other three defenders in ball heading and interceptions. It’s crucial part for any DC

Active winter transfer campaign soon!

Suddenly, I saw I have chance to sign excellent players and strengthen the squad. So this winter transfer campaign will become even more active than the one I had in summer.

I understand it’s a risky decision when you team has a superb form but I would like to take that risk.

There’re some names on paper and some already signed contract. For instance, one well-known Brazilian attacking midfielder will join the team in summer for free. Additionally, there will be an attempt to resolve a left back problem. One English DL has already agreed to play for Nottm Forest… So now I am thinking of selling Rakitskyi in winter.

Next Forest post should cover January and future transfers.

Upcoming fixtures

Christmas matches are going to become a serious test for our champion ambitions. Man Utd and Tottenham games stand out there. We’ll whether Nottingham Forest is able to continue the great run of wins started in  November.

Northern Ireland – Brazil 1:0

Last but not least I made a debut with Nothern Ireland and suddenly won the friendly game against mighty Brazil having very weak attackers ahead. Counter-attacking tactics was a key here and allowed to play nearly very carefully.

The single goals was scored from free kick by Oliver Norwood.
