Two midfielders in – two midfielders out

Nottingham Forest story continues. Winter transfer window news and latest results of matches today.

So two new midfielders joined Forest. Continuous blog readers know there names. These guys should certain strengthen my team and ambitions to win trophies.

Gylfi Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson in Football Manager 2013

Gylfi has wonderful technical skills and high mentality. Perhaps he lacks some Teamwork but the amazing values of Corners and Free Kick Taking automatically make him Forest’s main set pieces taker. Gylfi certainly deserves the top wage of $140K and should become a new leader of the team.

I also like his PPMs. Especially Curls Balls.

Joe Allen

Joe Allen in Football Manager 2013

Joe Allen is simply one of the best British playmakers in FM 2013. I couldn’t miss the day when he had got transfer-listed and made a bid. Lovely mental abilities!

So the most of you advised me to sell Cleverley and Selnaes. I agreed and made that. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get more than $6.25M for the Norwegian. However, Cleverley went to Tottenham for $29M with $422K of monthly installments for the next 48 months.

I have also loaned out right back Neil Eardley to give more first team experience to young Carlos Villa.

After all, club finances doesn’t make me happy because the balances is already below zero.

Match reports

Meanwhile I had a nice row of games without defeats. Though draws against Newcastle, Huddersfield, and Norwich resembled losses in sense of disappointment I felt. But the first five games of reported period make me proud due to great performance by defence and goalie: we just didn’t concede a single goal!

Best match. Tactical comeback against Southampton

Southampton

Southampton head coaches Nigel Adkins uses a wide 4-2-3-1 formation with AMC, AML, AMR. Playing against him the 4-4-2 classic tactics and loosing 0:2, I just changed strategy to Counter attacking. As a result everything changed in a moment and my boys managed to make a marvellous comeback scoring four goals. It’s especially pleasant that the author of two goals was newcomer Gylfi Sigurdsson. He also made one assist and got the MoM award in the end.

It seems I can even fight for the 3rd position this year. Thought it’s not really important. Finishing above the 5th line is a crucial season target for sure.

I am happy with total players’ performance during the last period and have no many complaints. Just hope that Thomas Drage and Lucas Podolski return to higher levels of shown football because I know how they can perform.

Both newbies Allen and Sigurdsson started to shine from their very first matches for Nottm Forest. You see the stats above.

Pay attention Handanovic was injured for 5 matches and successfully replaced by young Brazilian talent Dione who made one mistake only and was quite reliable.

Mitchell Hewitt – European Golden Boy!

Officially, Mitchell Hewitt is the best young European footballer! He got the award. It’s so great!

Mitchell Hewitt

Mitchell Hewitt is wanted by both Manchesters and thinking he has to play in bigger club :( I managed to make a new $100K per week deal with him. Now Mitchell is one of the top earners in Forest.

The wonderkid has the highest average rating in Premier League now.

Tricky matches ahead

Tricky matches ahead

Advancing in Europa League is hugely important if we talk about moving to the next level. Nurnberg is weak and not a kind of team that may stop Nottm Forest.

League Cup final against Arsenal is my chance to win the trophy second time in row. One of the toughest opponents ever. I hope they will use some back players as it happens with grand clubs in League Cup.

Then in two weeks we will play against the Gunners once more at the Emirates. Very complicated encounter for Nottingham Forest. After that Manchester United and Tottenham may also decrease morale level of my players. So these tricky matches mixed with possible Europa League and FA Cup games should become a huge test for me and my club.

Excited to blog for you,
