FA Cup final. Nottm Forest – Man United

One match at the Wembley stadium is today’s topic for discussion. My first FA Cup final with Nottingham Forest turned into dramatic event due to the arguable decisions of Howard Webb (referee). We had all chances to beat the Red Devils but Webb spoiled everything sending off two Forest players… Though let’s start from the beginning. Here are the starting elevens:

Howard Webb broke the game

We scored the quick goal on the 3th minute from corner. Good pass by Sigurdsson and it was Danny Batth who defeated opponent defenders in air. However, Howard Webb gave the 2nd yellow card to Ignjovski in the end of the first half and then repeated “two yellow card”-action for Carlos Villa in the second half. I merely lost all hopes to win the cup after that. We could only defend and try to counter-attack against winners of 4 Premier League titles in row. Meanwhile several Man Utd players were really lucky to remain at the pitch with one yellow card. It was unfair because they have some rough faults and hard tackling as well.

Neymar, Rooney, Nani, Kagava, Alaba created lots of good moments when either Batth, Hewitt, and Rakitskyi were making last tackles or slides to defend ourselves from goal or Samir Handanovic was making superb saves.

Frankly speaking, I don’t understand how, but Forest has managed to live till penalties.

The penalty series was totally unlucky despite all my hopes on iron-willed Handanovic who made nearly 6-7 penalty saves this season. It was not a good day for all my forwards. Ademilson and Podolski didn’t score their penalty kicks giving out the cup to Manchester United.

Well the Red Devils headed by Josep Guardiola deserved the victory. But Howard Webb definitely helped them much.

OverviewMatch stats

Some entertaining player stats showing the most valuable Forest players of the final. Of course I should have singled out hard-working Batth-Hewitt pair. Also, Will Hughes amazed me with amount of running during the match.

Injuries, suspensions, and jaded players

Now I have more than serious situation with the squad in several day before Europa League final against Chelsea. Many players will miss the final or have to play without fully refreshing their conditions.

At last it’s nice to see Forest captain Jamaal Lascelles has recovered from his long-term injury but he’s not ready to play for now because of low condition and match fitness. Unluckily, almost all his attributes has decreased…

Europa League final is ahead and I am going to use the second squad players in the away Premier League match versus Chelsea. It’s doesn’t really matter if we loose the PL match. The Euro Cup final is my top priority for now. That’s why current Nottingham Forest first eleven should recover after the painful FA Cup final. You should understand me.
