Squad analysis before Championship

Dear readers, as you know Boston United will start the 5th season in Championship. I don’t think I’ll be able to win a promotion in one season again this time. So I am going to rebuild the squad significantly.

The squad I have now

This is how the screen shot of my first team looks:

Boston United before the Champioship season, FM 2011

Contracts with 5 players were not signed. So they are free to leave the club:

5 players leaving the team

You can add David Mooney to this list who made me angry during the season and got to the transfer list as a result:

Bye, David Mooney!

So Boston squad is really small after all departures. Now I would like to analyse players’ stats during the last season and think more over their future in the team.

Goalkeepers

Goalkeepers in Boston United, FM 2011

Don’t even know what to analyse here. Goree leaves, Johnstone is young but quite weak for Championship. Jansson performed rather well in the second half of the season. But I am afraid he isn’t reaching the level of Championship goalies.

Defenders

Defenders in Boston United, FM 2011

Webster and Maras performed fine in the defence’s centre. Whether can they be reliable in the next season? I am not sure. For instance, there is an anxious sign - header completion ratio of Maras is only 74%.

Benjamin Genot (DL) is a person who deserves to stay in the first eleven. Can’t say the same about Capasso because loaned Jackson Ramm played at the right back’s position almost the whole season.

Midfielders

Midfielders in Boston United, FM 2011

I have a slight disappointment with the amount of assists made by Summerfield. I thought he should became a playmaker with the most assists this season.

Other midfielders and wingers (that are not leaving the team on a free transfer) performed well. Though their levels of attributes make me to hesitate much.

Forwards

Forwards in Boston United, FM 2011

It’s a simple case here. Only O’Donovan stays in the team. Other forwards are leaving. Obviously O’Donovan can’t be an efficient striker in Championship; he has even scored only 18 goals in 38(5) matches in League 1 season as you see.

Positions that should be strengthened

Formation of Boston United, FM 2011

I can conclude Boston United lacks:

- better goalkeeper

- at least one good DC

- at least one good MC

- better AML and AMR

- better striker

Actually it’s just minimal pack of new players I need. Hope I will be able to find even more footballers to make a completely new team with just few guys from my current main squad.

Whom would you recommend me as potential signing for Boston United? Remember I am at the start of the 5th season now.

    Markus Henriksen (MC)

I don't know if he's cheap or expensive, I just know that he's a god in long shots and he's passing game makes a lot of assists ;)

Good points there. I started also my fifth season in championship. I got 4M in transfers to spend and really good wage budged also. So I think you have the money to re-build your team. I have notice the importance of midfielders and forwards. Against strong teams I have lot of struggling to get any shots at all and still got deacent ball possession.

At this level loan players are not the case so you need to buy all the players. I have no good players to offer you, so there is not so much help of my story :)

One player that I´m happy is my new goalkeeper Vito Mannone how I got free he´s experienced enought to play this level.

Hopefully you got good players and fight at least top-half finnish this season.

By the way...I´m thinking that when FM12 is released I join with you guys and start my own blog :)

try to have a parent club which you will be able to take players on loan
as an ex:when I was in Torino,i agreed a partenrship with inter and juventus,i secured many wonderkid loans and I won serie B even that i was not expected to win it
    easy and costless way

    I don't have any suggestions, I'm sorry... I'm not familiar with low-ranked teams ;)

But you've made an excellent squad analysis, just wanted to say that :)

how much money have you got if you can afford him febian brandy can get you 30 goals a season if played as a poacher in addition to this try raiding south america for some cheap flair

  8. Richard Cutayar Says:

Bostock from tottenham. You'd only be able to get him if he's a free agent though. But he's a great young MC.

I would recommend Bressan for a central midfield player. I have got him on my Leicester game in just the 2nd season (although signed him in the 1st season when I was in the Championship) although he's wanted by some pretty big teams, so I'd say IF you can get him then it would have to be on loan. He's more than good enough for the Championship though, he made my best 11 when we finished 2nd in the league, and is currently rated on my game as being good for PL sides. If you can find him in your game he'll probably be around 26 or 27 years old.

can you show some screenshots of players like mahoto and livaja? as i want to see how well they progress.

    Jani,
I think it will be very interesting season. Sure there are problems with Boston reputation and low amount of good players that want to join my club. But we'll see... I am going to use loans anyway this season.

  13. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Richard Cutayar,
John Bostock costs $1.1M at the moment. Too much...

  14. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    MRDNRA,
    Bressan's price value is $3.6M...

  15. Jani Says:

Of course I have loan players too (one at the moment) but they cost money too, so it´s about that are you willing to pay for getting player for loan or pay for getting player to be your own...

  16. gorylekto Says:

could you show some screenshots of your team instructions ? that would be great.

  17. Matt Adlington Says:

Connor Wickman, depending on how he has developed, and whether a big team has snanched him up.

    good potential striker

  18. Ben-CCFC Says:

Hi Vitaliy, I have been following you amazing stories since FM08 and I haven't posted but I thought I should now as I'd like to congratulate you on how successful your blog is. I really enjoy reading your posts and you actually do inspire me to become really good at this game.
Keep up the good work mate!!

  19. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Jani,
yes, each loan case is now pretty doubtful because of initial fee. But anyway I have already loaned 3 players who didn't cost more than $300K of initial payments.

Read the next Boston story post on Sunday! :-)

    gorylekto,
I have already post the team instructions here: Boston tactics

    Ben-CCFC,
it's very pleasant to have such dedicated and satisfied blog readers as you :) Thanks!

  22. Jani Says:

I can´t wait to see what kind of players you managed to get :)

  23. Simon Says:

I don't know if Fraser Fyvie will be available but Aberdeen are good for Championship level strikers...Chris Maguire and Scott Vernon. Mark Howard would also be good as a goalie, I don't know if you can afford any of these or if they are on frees but I think they could be good enough!

  24. Rezco Souza Says:

GK: Heinz Lindner or Matteo Sereni (if you need short term solution). if you're lucky they're for free.

DC: Lukas Hejda is good n cheap, but i guess he's already in other bigger club since you've played more than 2 seasons

MC: Filippo Boniperti could be a good one, better at ML though

AMR/AML: Pablo Sarabia from Real Madrid Castilla. Not use him yet, but seems potential

Striker: Enzo Scorza, i use him in my Pro Vercelli game, and have been key player since Serie C2 till now in Serie B. When in-form this guy is really a predator, although his finishing attribute isn't really high

  25. mickeyjim7 Says:

Thought you might want to know about three promising WBA players. Lateef Elford-Alliyu (striker) is a cracking player for luton in league 1 for me. Also, Joe Mattock and James Hurst (defenders) are good promising players that play for my albion first team. Only problem is they play for England Under-21's (and are more than capable of playing for first team, trust me!!), so they may be more expensive. (Elford-Alliyu doesn't)
Nice Blog :) can't wait for an update.

  26. timboh11 Says:

you where right to let david mooney go as i had him for blyth spartans and in league 1 and even 2 he was rubbish, didnt score the goals you would think he would. I am now in the championship with blyth and luckly no david mooney.

  27. Jani Says:

I´m pleased. I signed Jonathan Obika (ST valued 975k) and Jesse Joronen (GK valued 250) for free and now Aberdeen made enquiry for Obika I said 1,5M and they bought him. Also I offered Joronen for teams 450k and Getafe bought him. So it´s good to get some money to spend.

  28. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    timboh11,
don't you want to continue writing about Blyth story at your FMCrowd blog? It was quite unique and really intersting!

  29. timboh11 Says:

I think I may continue with it later on I am thinking of maybe doing a bit more of my rotherham save but i will certainly carry on with my Blyth save sometime :)
