HullSeason expectations and first transfers
Today is the day for Leeds story post.
Season expectations
The board didn’t give me any chance to choose other goal. Leeds United has certainly the best squad in Coca-Cola League 1. It means if one becomes Leeds manager he should promote the club to the Championship at least. If one doesn’t do that he is a looser 
So my target for the first season – win the title of League 1!
Interesting that my club is not the top favourite by odds from Sky Bet. Charlton and Norwich are considered my closest opponents who will fight for the title.
Leeds Transfers
I didn’t define a tactical formation when I had been working on transfer market signing that or another player. I had just been thinking over Leeds tactics… So you should understand that all my new players were signed mostly separately from my tactical thoughts.
Players out
I sold several quite poor players like Grella, Ankergren, Robinson. The last one had to be sold because of his pretty high wage.
And the best sale here is the transfer of Alan Sheehan - $625K when his price was $350K!
Players in
As usually for my Football Manager stories bought players attract more attention than sold ones:
The list consists mostly of free transfers and loans. I had many free transfer clauses on different players. Some of them were lost to other clubs:
- Skacel
- Glauber
- Pablo Cavallero
- Samuel Kuffour
- Brahim Hemdani
- Stepen Appiah
- Ebi Smolarek
- Vratislav Lokvenc
Seems like I wasn’t too insistent for signing those names. From the other hand fortune turned to me with Sol Campbell, Andy van der Meyde, Gareth Williams, Carsten Janker, Ivan Campo and Ian Walker. These two are the best of them:
Sol Campbell
Former star of English national team and Arsenal. Simply the best defender in my Leeds now.
Gareth Williams
Williams is central midfielder with good passing, creativity and team work. And his age is 27 – that’s good. I am going to use him in the first squad instead of Kilkenny, Howson and other native players of Leeds United.
And, of course, I should mention Ian Walker who was signed to be the first team goalie of Leeds.
Now some words about two bought players. I think they are really special guys for my club.
Sandrinho
I intend to use Sandrinho as playmaker in my team. His Passing, Flair, Agility and Dribbling attributes inspire me to buy him for this role. Nice Brazilian from Bulgarian team .
Andriy Yarmolenko
Well, I have some kind of weakness regarding Ukrainian players just because I am Ukrainian 
. Therefore I was looking for an opportunity to transfer one of Ukrainian talents. Of course, I know Ukrainian footballers very well and there was no problem to make several transfer offers. The transfer offer regarding young talent of Dynamo Kiev – Andriy Yarmolenko – had been accepted and I got quick forward and winger for quite high price of $1.1M.
I am going to use Yarmolenko as second forward together with Jermaine Beckford. Becchio and Jancker will play from substitution bench actually.
And now, I should inform you that my first season has been started! Follow my blog and you will know what tactics I choose for Leeds and if I gain success with it!

it says on the players in screen that you bought sandrinho for $55k but on his player screen his value is $750000.
lauren the former arsenal and portsmouth player is free, landon donovan is available to sign and will come when his contract ends
I grabbed Gareth Williams as well, was sitting nicely on 25 assists from 32 games when he decided it would be a good time to damage a cruciate ligament... 12 months out.

I signed Ebi Smolarek for Norwich and now in January he's scored 18 in 25 and is worth £2.5 million. Not a bad free eh ;)
Well done on the signings.
I got Ian Walker for the last FM and i must say he was one of the best signings i'v made. 12 clean sheets in 34 apps. and i was Aston Villa:O:D
Won the league with Leeds in my first season. Signings included Wiltord, Jeffers, Henri Camara, Serginho Greene, Perrier-Doumbe, Zenden, Van der Meyde, Laurent Robert, Jurgen Macho, De Laet (on loan). I only got 200K for Sheehan.
when u r in the January transfer window try if u can sign beckham for free. lol. he went to burnley in my game but has 24k wages. And isnt kakuta band for a few months after the transfer window closes?
Try link a parent club from Premier League, they might surprise u wif free player as a loan and giving u a boost of annual fees, i got young left back stephan darby from Liverpool, absolutely free of wages!!! this help to reduce ur wage bill
walker is a quality goalie, not only good at his job, but oso good rship wif plenty of other players, hence, promoting better squard harmony.
campbell is a good player, but wage bill is too high, wif such wage, i can opt for 3 to 5 of other good quality players, anyway, ur intro of young ukranian player seems worth to tag it, will seriously consider it, tat mean another top up to my team beside vieri n sumo, upgrading my fire power, ho ho ho

currently my wage budget is $10K below allowed. So it's ok
Regarding my loan player from Liverpool, it is an auto loan proposed by Liverpool, tat's y is $0 wage, anyway, the game is random setup, so it is quite subjective. So good luck to anyone who link a parent club.
Vitaly, wonder y ur start of season hv so much transfer budget n high wage budget while current spending is up to 132k+!!!, coz mine only $1M budget plus much lower wage budget plus current spending oso less than 100k, wonder y it is so different, by the way, mine setup choosing for manager is semi-pro reputation, wonder this will affect budget.
If I remember correctly Kakuta's global ban is is lifted at the start of January 2010.
During my next pre-season QPR have become a feeder club to AC Milan. Still waiting to see if they loan any players to us though.
i can tell you that Van der Meyde really sucks, but maybe only in my game (i play with Leeds too), only 1 goal and 2 assists in ~35 games

RIP Robert Enke. I was shocked and very saddened that he should decide suicide was the only way to end whatever terrible mental torment he was going through. My heartfelt thoughts go out to his family and friends at this time of such awful tragedy.
Good signings vitaliy! I'm sure u will do well with Leeds. Obvisouly sad to hear news about enke he was a good keeper on fm.

QPR just played their first match in the Premiership away to Man City and somehow we came away with a 2-1 win. Man City went a goal up and then seemed to switch off.
Given I lost matches to recently relegated Stoke and Wolves in pre-season and looked awful in those matches, I expected a sound thrashing. Even the matches we won in pre-season we never quite looked right.
Agreed wif Mal, some players in the list shown by Vitaly is not found in my game too!! Particularly Vratislav Lokvenc.
No matter how I search for it, still show zero result for this player, anyone exp the same?
if you cant find one of the players Vitaliy has listed its probably because you dont have the same leagues and database size as he uses, some players may be from places that you dont have on you're selected database
if anyone is starting a career in championship or lower sign these three, right at the start of the 1st season
Lung Jr- GK normally available for 220k, offer him around 9k and he will sign, becomes one of the best gk in the game
Muniesa- CB from Barcelona, they try to sell him for around 50k-170k and he asks for very low wages, hes 18 and becomes worth 5 million at least.
Helan, LWB, think he players for man city, get him for 220k, asks for low wages aswell, he becomes a great signing, or piece of business if you sell him in a couple of years

I saw you sold some deadwoods, maybe I would have retained Sheehan, a good left back for that level, however Leeds has money to invest in the market so you could probably afford better players.
am thinkin of startin one with leeds and will defo look for free transfers and loan deals. do u not have to pay any fees or wages toward players u got on loan? because i went rangers and was being told to pay £2.4m and 100% of wages for denilson(arsenal) and similar for dos santos (spurs) why is this ?
i jst finished a season with rangers winnin rhe league, scottish cup and reacing europa league semi-finals. signed sergey krivets from bate!! and got royston drenthe from r.madrid £2.4m (transfer listed) and got youngsters on loans :D
i thinku should hawe signed more free players same as i did. couse next season them prices will be ridiculy high and they will be money bags for new players. btw it is very easy to keep morale high couse will leeds i was wining almost every game and it was sky high ;)
There is a distinct difference between Rangers and a team from English League or lower.
The type of player that a top club like Arsenal are willing to loan out to a League one side, they are happy to keep paying the full wages, as they know it's the best chance of the player getting first team experience.
The kind of players Rangers would want to loan are at stage where they are higher quality and to protect their investment they want a loan fee and a proportion of the wages paid. If the club taking the loan are willing to pay that, they are also more likely to want to the player to play in matches, than if they got them at no cost.
It would be annoying to loan a player out, that you were still paying the wages of, if they just sat on the bench. The whole idea of loaning a player is that you expect them to be gaining experience and developing as a player, and not just being loan out as a bench warmer.
kikin fonseca, £1.1M, 29 years, sold him from Leeds to Hull after first season for £2.7M.. 24 goals in 30 matches, many as a ML. is willing to go to league one clubs!

Great to hear your Leeds, they come very strong second half of the season, Beckford, Snodgrass, Johnson and Fleck stats improve loads after christmas. Beckford got 32 in 45 for me but somehow was 3rd top scorer in the league!?!
Also out of the players i bought in, the over 30's(Campbell, Lauren, Vieri) failed at the club due to the tempo of football played.But the transfers in of Cardacio, Omozusi, Smolarek and Fleck excelled!

fleck really does improve around christmas time. scored 26 in a season for me playing at rangers. for an 18 year old tht squite impressive, but still - kris boyd finished top with 28 and steven naismith in third with 22. pleased with my first full season in fm10 !!
i couldnt find cardaccio on a free tranfer though.

I feel FM 2010 is very difficult to sell players that in poor form although the price is very cheap from normal price.
Are you feel this problem?
I can't find any of the players you aquired even though I'm using a Large database. What am I doing wrong? Good luck with Leeds, was a huge Mark Viduka fan growing up when he was there.
The reason even with a large database some of those players are not found, will be because you haven't included the same countries.
The usual favourite countries to add are Spain, Italy, France and Germany. I also like to add Holland and Scotland. My current game I also added Belgium.
Do the countries have to be playable? Or is View Only ok?
Sorry I am new to the game...but can we use the same tactics and training you gave for 09 for 10 and if not are you going to put up new ones, because that would be great. Thanks for the sit and the knowledge much appreciated.

do u know that by 2nd season in bpl,the club only can register 25 player including 8 homegrown player..
this registering format are exactly same with the spanish la liga..
i got trapped by this format and has 2 sold many my foreign star in my wolves game..
so i think u should nurtured your own english talent from now..

I am playing leeds too. Snodgrass wants to move to bigger club(there are some clubs intresting in that player). Should I sell him after first season(his stats 26(3)games 10 gls, 10 ast, 7.28avr, 1 600 000 pounds value) or try to keep him at all cost? What do you think?

Just finished first season with Liverpool. Won the league by one point. Think that FM2010 is overall a big improvment on 09. Recommend Andre-Pierre Gignac as a good striker to buy for any prem team in top half. costs about 10M dollars score 18 in 26 matches 4 me. Also get Van der Vaart on loan from R.Madrid, another good signing. 11 goals in 24 games. Love the blog Vitaliy!

Hi Vitaliy, I am halfway through my season with Arsenal(top of the league by 10 points)and best signing has been the amazing centre back Naldo. His average match rating is 7.35 and he never loses headers but he was costly at £12,000,000
I've been using exactly the same training schedules I set up for FM09. I just imported the saved schedules I already had.

to access the data editor you have to right click on the shortcut and open file location. Then click steamapps, common, football manager 2010, tools, editor. The data editor is found in that folder. Enjoy

He is amazing, after 2 seasons, with 43 senior games under his belt, from league 1 to championship level, all of his stats are better or equal to Micheal Johnsons.
Only costs 400k, from a small Italin D2 club, admitted need wages of 4k for lower division clubs, but HE WANTS GAME TIME! So chooses clubs like LEEDS :):):) over Roma and the like.
Gets co-owned every time you dont go for him! SO GO FOR HIM!
Seriously great player, got 17 assists in the championship for me when he was 17! Go Figure!
