Ivory Coast qualified to World Cup 2014

Today I am going to report you about Ivory Coast team. Good news – we qualified to World Cup 2014! Here is the resulting table:

World Cup 2014 qualification table

Matches

My favourite African team started to win games in very confident way having only one away draw with Angola after 4 matches:

Ivory Coast vs Mali, Angola, Benin in FM 2009

Ivory Coast vs Mali, Angola, Benin in FM2009

But in the fixture #5 against Benin Drogba, Kalu, Kone and others attackers were unable to score more than 1 goal Sigh. That unexpected draw turned out into the 2nd position of Ivory Coast before the last match. The rules say that only team being on 1st position qualifies to World Cup.

So the last match was a bit nervous…  Though Mali didn’t have many chances to gain a positive result for themselves. So I would say that we were lucky to get to the final stage of the World Cup 2014.

Players

Some statistics of African players for you. Didier Drogba is still the best goal scorer of Ivory Coast in spite of his 33-year age!

Pay attention that Arthur Boka is DL and Emmanuel Eboue is DR in my team:

Salomon Kalou, Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba – 3 best players of Ivory Coast during qualification stage (Drogba has lower rating than Keita but he was more valuable due to scored goals):

Now there will be a pause in Ivory Coast reports till the end of the 2013/2014 season. But in summer we will have a hot time because of World Cup 2014 and my ambitions of winning it with African team at first in my whole Football Manager experience (that is almost 14 years in real life).

By the way, I won World Cup only with Brazil and England in the previous versions of Football Manager.

Well done Vitaly, shall certainly be a challenge, especially with Drogba being 33! If Drogba stays fit and is on form I believe you have a great chance.

it will be hard as i cant see drogba being the great striker he is a 34! Does Drogba still play for Chelsea? How come you havent brought any ivorian players as it is very easy to sign players from the nation that you manage.

Drogba is still Chelsea player. But he is on the substitution bench there because they have Alexis Sanchez.
