Perfect finish of season #5

Hello, dear Football Manager gamers! I have finished the season finally. What I can say… It was wonderful!

Final results

Hull is on the 3rd position in Premier League, FM09

The Tigers became the 3rd best team in Premier League! We more than met season expectations qualifying into Champions League instead of Euro League! This is the reason why Hull was considered the most overachieved football club of Premier League:

Overachievers - Hull

Last matches of Hull in season #5, FM2009

There is interesting case that 5 minutes before the end of the last fixture’s matches my team was on the 4th position in the table winning match against West Brom confidently.  But Chelsea manage to concede goal on the 88th minute from Stoke and the score of their away match became 1:1. This draw moved the club of Roman Abramovich from the 3rd to the 5th position! Surprise

I should single out also the excellent last 5 victories that gave chances to fight for Champions League place. Before those matches I had real problems with results due to very complicated series of 4 away matches against Aston Villa, Newcastle, Arsenal and West Ham. Moreover, my main goalkeeper and captain of the team Ochoa got the one month of injury and missed 4 matches of May! I was scared very much with this… Fortunately two reserve keepers (young Paoletti and Howard with very poor morale) did only few mistakes. Hull defence didn’t allow to make a lot of shots in those matches. Even against Manchester United! Cool

Hull players

Ok, now some words about creators of this greatest Hull success.

Best Eleven

Best eleven of Hul, season #5, FM 2009

In my case the Best Eleven screen reflects the best players of the team and the main squad ideally. Pay attention that most of players have rating higher than 7.00!

Statistics and awards

Milovan Rakic

Milovan Rakic is one of the best scorers in PL

One of the most important Hull players is our young Serbian forward - Milovan Rakic. He had different rows of matches in this season. Rakic started in not a good way failing his moments in 10 first matches or so. Then he had fantastic series of 10 matches when he had been scoring in almost every game. After that slight delay with goals happened again. And Milovan Rakic showed his confidence and importance for the team in the most complicated and decisive matches during season finish when our main goalkeeper was injured.

Rakic - best Hull goalscorer!

Diego Buonanotte

Assists of Diego Buonanotte in FM 2009

“Hull’s Maradona” (as I call him) becomes the best assister of the club every season. Buonanotte is one of the most experienced players who joined our team before the 2nd season in Championship. Since that time I cannot imagine Hull without his smart mind, explosive speed and magic dribbling! Cowboy

Eugene Shakhov

Eugene Shakhov - surprise of the season!

I have already been praising Eugene Shakhov. He has the best rating among all Hull players and is on the 5th position among all Premier League footballers! Shakhov’s progress inspires to continue my selection policy of signing U21 players and training them into real stars!

Ramires

Ramires is Hull's Player of the Year in season #5

But the most valuable player of the season is Ramires. I agree with our fans absolutely! This Brazilian made a lot very important goals and assists. He is the guy who rules the game. Many combinations go through him. And he know always what to do with ball. By the way, you could see his performance in the real life during Confederations Cup.

Well done, a great achievement. I hope you do well in the Champions League. You might have to buy a few rotation players though, as your youngster may not be up to the challenge of European football yet.

    Well Done Vitaly

    Kudos man.

I cant eblieve you made one lone striker work. I hate the tactic as I feel you limit your opportunities. But you seem to make it work :)

  4. Radoslav Says:

nice one Vitaly. Good luck in the CL. And i think that this 4-3-3 tactic is one of the best although I'm using slightly different settings. If you have two very good central midfielders with forward runs enabled it makes three players in the small penalty area versus two opposite central defenders when the ball is on the flanks. One season in my Napoli game my central midfielder become Seria A top goalscorer (he had excellent set piece and penalty taking abilities but still scored a lot from open play)

Congrats! Hope you can achieve success in the champions cup!

I see that you started calling him Ramires. Nice to know ;)

    Good season

How are you doing with Ivory Coast. It is just that you haven't posted about that in a while

  8. Anonymous Says:

Hey well done! I overachieved the same thing recently with Leeds. I like your tactics, they got me some very good results especially away from home. However I now play 2 strikers up front and more direct passing.

    Amazing.

    Anonymous,
in two days you will read about participation of Ivory Coast in Confederations Cup! :)

Guys, thanks for congratulations! At the moment I'm thinking about transfers. Seems like there is some need in new central defender. Though my Hull is on the 3rd position in Premier League by conceded goals

  12. LiamTheWelshman Says:

    Central Defenders?

    Try any of these:

    David Wheater
    Leo
    Ayila Yussuf
    Gojko Kacar
    Onyekachi Apam

Yussuf is probably the best there; Wheater will probably be cheaper.

    From a long time fan.

  13. LiamTheWelshman Says:

Just an idea if you want to change formation, but you could try making your wingers LM + RM, but swap your two MC to AMC.

Man City are using this tactic and are shreddign up the Prem in my game.

Oh, by the way, I meant Wheater will probably be the Cheapest.

    Oh, CONGRATS!!

  14. Daniel Says:

    Vitaliy Mokosiy,

I have reached year 2013 end or 2014 with my Southampton.

I must recommend you some really good players that are working for my team.

Robin AML (if he is already at Stuttgart, it will cost at least 40 million pounds to sign him)
As i signed him for 40million...

    Or Munch (AML)

Denis Le Ge (FC) from france, he is a world class player now, i bought him when he is a wonder kid.
Even if he does not score, he attracts alot of defenders around him, and your other strikers will have a better chance of scoring.

If Pat Rice is incharge of Arsenal now, you must buy Thiago (DC) and sell him at 70 million.

    Really cool

Only 3 points above seventh so you could say you got a bit lucky ;) Always a fan Vitaliy. Last few blogs have been top class. All the best for your summer transfers. Cant wait to see who you get. Maybe you could do a post on your targets?

  17. afc Says:

Congrats dude. I've been reading your blog for a while now, you're really doing a fine job here :)

I've copied your tactics a little (only with normal side midfielders) and they work like a charm - Going into the 5th season with West Brom and I'm in the EC! And someone mentioned it, yeah - it's awesome with two killer MC's. I've got Barry & Dzagoev there and they're scoring like mad!

    Cheers mate, keep it up!

  18. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Scottish Scott,
I wouldn't say about luck regarding 3 points. Take a look at the goal difference of all competitors. I think my Hull deserved place in the top four this season!

There won't be post about transfer targets of Hull. It's because you will see all bought and sold players very soon (in the next post)!

To tell you the secret - two of new players costed me more than $30M each!

  19. zero Says:

  21. Lemi14 Says:

Could you make another list of good players
They dont have to be young just to have great skills
    Please

  22. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Lemi14,
I am not sure that there is any sense to do it. Just because you can find very long lists of great players on many FM forums. For instance, FM Formation or FM Britain.
