My first success with national team in FM 2009

Those of you who have been reading my blog at least since January remember that I was assigned to manage Ivory Coast national team simultaneously with Hull.

I didn’t report about World Cup qualification matches of the first group stage because the matches with weak African teams are not interesting for you, and me as well. I can just say the my team qualified to the next group stage with ease. The other matter – African Nations Cup. There are several teams that can make competition for honour to be the first: Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria… But anyway my brilliant Ivory Coast team won the tournament! Cool

Reaction of Ivory Coast FA on winning African Nations Cup, FM09

I started in the following group and took only the second position in it:

That group result was caused by the loss to Senegal. Actually it was even game and they had better realization of goal moments. But Ivory Coast revenged Senegal in the final match!

The final match was dramatic and beautiful together. We managed to conceded 2 quick goals Surprise!  You should understand who it’s hard to do something in the final of the tournament when you have just started a game and the score is 0:2 already. But my Orange team showed wonderful strength of spirit and courage. Didier Drogba scored twice and Baky Kone brought so desired victory!

I would like to mention the best players of Ivory Coast national team. They are Kolo Toure, Salomon Kalou, Artur Boka and, of course, 33 years old Didier Drogba who became the best goalscorer of the African Nations Cup:

PS I think I created the second successful tactics which I have been using for Ivory Coast. It differs pretty much from the one that I use for Hull. I will post and describe it next time!

Just wondering what happened to all the youngsters you signed in 2010? You spent a large amount on those guys so it would be cool to see how theyve got on.

    Scottish Scott,
those youngsters became players of my reserve squad. I have to mention that they are still too young at the moment and need some training. May be I will get one or two of them to the first squad.

But I should say that training process is not because of coaches with only 4-5 stars. I'm going to sign some new better coaches.
