I think we can start thinking about Football Manager 2010 because SIGames guys are not going to release new patches for FM 2009. So we will see all new features of the game only in Football Manager 2010. The current game is really good but, of course, there are many directions for game developers to improve it. I would recommend to implement the following FM 2010 features :
- More pretty and clean 3D match view.
- New cameras in 3D view. It would be good to have fully customizable camera.
- Stadiums and their upgrades in 3D view.
- I have idea of board meetings. It’s when you as a manager talk with board members about upcoming season or season that has just been finished.
- Trophy room. It would be pleasant to see all the trophies that you have won. Clicking on any of these trophies can bring to Final match for it (if it’s not league).
- Improve manager profile. It’s still quite useless.
- Possibility to view how values of player attributes change during his WHOLE CAREER.
- I think it’s time to add some new features to FM tactics screens.
- Get license for national team of Germany
And what features would you like to see in Football Manager 2010?
I hope they'll implement better system in determining players' potential ability as for now once a player marked as an average player he won't be able to perform well...
This is quite untrue in real life, as some average players suddenly perform amazingly well (i.e. Marco di Vaio at Bologna now, he is the current topscorer of Serie A althou he is no longer young and often regarded as "mediocre player".
I hope that they improve the speed of the game and make it so that you can see how much that the players has improved over the years.
When you want to buy a class player, and he rejects your contract offer, it would be nice that you can speak with player and tell him that you bought some very good players, your expectations for next season... so he can realize that you won't be the same team in next season and that you are planing to bring the team into the next level .. or something like that, it would be very nice
if you could be able to have more intense 1 on ones with the players and also they could stop making arsenal so dam good i mean it is unrealistic ( -;
i think it would be good for some audio commentary during matches as well as negotioations with a player when he has no interest in joining your club
third party ownership for players in south american leagues!!!!
I also hope they make it easier for the computers and that it can run smoothly and well on all computers
no doubt that there should be more tactics options in my opinion...
media predictions are usually unfair as they are based pretty much entirely on the previous seasons performances. they should also be based on the new signings and suchlike. interaction with board, fans and players could definetely be improved. also, when trying to sign players, you should be able to sell them the club per se. atm all you can do is offer them big contracts and hope they sign, it would be a lot better if you could explain the club's history and where you are taking it and how they fit into that etc. ...
As it's football manager i think there should be an option how do you start your manager career. Like assistant manager and from there to lower league club manager or something like that.
yeah, although this would have to be a work in progress, it would be cool if you could start all the way at the bottom (scout or youth coach or something) and work your way up to manager. for example if you are a scout you go watch other players and give the manager your rating. if you're a coach you set up drills, evaluate your players and even suggest the best XI when the manager asks. the asst manager could be incharge of some matches and then do all the reserve matches. things like that.
i agree with sander, working your way up from assistant to manager would be a great idea, along with all the ideas mentioned in the blog.
i agree with them all, although is it not too early to think about all this? Its only March. Football Manager 2010 won't be out for another 7-8 months :(
I am still enjoying 2009 & have not changed teams since i got the game at christmas. i still have lots to do in this game.
the game is called FOOTBALL MANAGER not football assistant manager i think it wud b stupid 2 b able to b a coach or scout or sumthing, it wud completely distrupt the aims of the game
mayb assistant manager could be implemented but been a scout or coach, in my oppinion wouldnt work.
you should be able to create your own player and use your managers wages to upgrade him to make him better :)
I had the idea of a finances screen to how much certain players bring in from shirt sales how much profit per match able to change budget like ; training, equipment, travel expenses etc.
I think they should take into account your salary more. Right now it is pointless and just eats into a wage budget or transfer funds which can be crucial with lower league teams (I would happily manage for £0 a week in the game, as it doesn't affect anything.) Maybe they could make it so that you can do things with the money you earn. I couldn't think what right now, but it would be nice for that to have more of a purpose.
I think that they should improve on the expansion of the stadiums,as at the moment u can only expand them to a limit,u should even be able to talk to the board about building new stadiums for the club
One of the things they need to sort out is the money as im a southampton fan its not fun being them in the game cuz i start off with £0 transfer budget :(
And some of the bigger clubs that are called "rich" have very small transfer budgets aswell. Don't really make much sense
They should increase the micro management factor of FM. Like what real life managers would have to do in real life football. And you can hire assistance for positions like finance manager, marketing manager and PR manager. Well its quite unrealistic to have the assman doing everything isnt it? lol.
They might just advice u on what to do and lets say if you do not have these assistants, you have to due with more problems and solve more situations.
Whta means by assitant manager is become like reserve team coach of a club, it happens a lot of in spain. like Barcelona and Seville promote B team manager to manager of first team
Something like: giving the money you earn from a salary to a charity could boost your relationship with the media and possibly say the charity was based in argentina, players from that country would have a better liking for you.
Or, you could give your money to a local youth football centre which would again increase favour with the media and also improve chances of local kids coming through your academy which would be good for nationality reasons ;)!

Allow you to assign jersey numbers for friendlies also sometimes people might like to take the identity of another manager (in my cause I want to manage Arsenal but I dont want Arsene Wenger to end up in Barca or Inter.
While this is only minor, i just thought I'd mention that the edited imagine is FM 20010. Will SI be making this brilliant game in 8001 years?
I must agree that the tactics do need a revamp! More interaction is definitely the way forward in terms of board room and player transfers. Eg you could ask the board to offer a player a higher wage than you could normally for a player because he would be such an essential signing.
Random question but what currency do you use just so we can get an idea of players value :D Also, Mokosiy you are a legend! However, I am the god of this game this game and cant be close to being matched!
you should be able to create your own player or hav a son or smmit.. then use your wages to upgrade tht player buy buying attributes for him or summit??
it good if you can speak with player that rejects your contract or who maybe interested in joining your club and tell him your plans for the future with the club, your expectations, and that your really looking to turn the club around. So he can realize that your trying to turn the club around and bring in top players, and that you are planing to bring the team into the next level.
It would also be good if you can talk to the players and there agents be for you try and buy them or make an offer for the them, so that they no your expectations with the club and know what you are trying to do with the club in the future.
It would be good if you could have some commentry on the 3D matches and also stadiums and fans. And if you could have images of all the players, managers, and the clubs badges in the barcleys premiership.
i like the idea of starting off as a youth or reserve team manager; not a scout or something like that - it would be too boring. also maybe update and improve manager profile. maybe let you add some international appearances to your manager profile if you want?! something like that and more interaction with fans, the board and potential signings.
It could be better if you they(football manager 2009)arrange friendly with national team

A major option they should add to the game is you should be able to start your game in the middle of the season. like when a manager gets sacked you take over. At the start up screen you should be able to pick how much games have been simulated and you take over from there. Just a thought!!!!
I'd like to see licensing for all professional club teams across the world not seeing the man utd, arsenal or liverpool badge when ur playing is annoying as!!
And updated 3d drive would be great and so that the kits the play in are the ones in real life, by this i mean you can see the badges and sponsorship of the shirt whilst using the 3d match engine. Apart from that I dont think there is little else to improve it apart from get rid of the female option, which girl manages a mens team???
i would definately like to see improvements on the oppostion scouting report as in every match i get more or less the same advice (vague pitch measurements, ONLY ONE danger man and then a note saying their forwards are strong and quick) a more detailed one would help you win matches more, but of course it wouldnt be possible without improved tactics
During a match you can shout to the players on the pitch, like when you are winning you can tell them to keep it tight or when you are losing you can tell them to get the ball forward quicker and you should have other options to shout different things e.g. go for a second goal or keep the ball.
It would great if instead of making up players after a few seasons the FM scouts should find out actual youth players at the age of 13-16 so they can become wonderkids if given the chance to impress.(just a thought)
hmmm... just hope that they would improve the scouting system ... like eg. i got a scout report saying this player is decent signing ... but when i look at the stats the highest stats is passing which is only 15 and then most of it one digit stats ... i just bought and try it ... sold it off the next season ...
plus i know its random and a little stupid ... but maybe we can have the manager able to tap up players or argue with officials ... maybe they should like hav a "monitoring training session" feature where the manager (we) can see the player training and comment on their training ...
and oh yea ... possibly could improve and add on more variety of comments ... cuz like the press conference its like the same 5 answers only ...
hope football manager 2010 would be the best yet ...

Only a little thing, but from the club information screen the details concerning the size of your stadium and how good your training/youth facilities are is no longer displayed, instead you just get how many season tickets you have sold.
Get rid of the steam software reliance to play the game. I bought the game after i moved and had to wait a few weeks before i could play it waiting for my internet to be installed. Plus from what i heard it was a load of rubbish anyway and the whole sites crashed. SI have got to be careful therefore not penalising loyal customers for the sake of trying to stop a few who are gonna find a way round of paying regardless.
I'd like to see more options in the team talks, "You can win tonight" gets a bit tiring!
Building on that i'd like to be able to influence the game more whilst the match is being played, for example calling out to players.
Another thing that would also really be useful is as had been said already negotiation with players stating intentions when it comes to contracts either buying or renewing. For example maybe when a player states they are not currently interested, you can negotiate with them to make them interested, rather than just bump up the salary and hope for the best.
You only have to look at Robinho at Man City to see negotiating with the clubs intentions can go a long way in football.

player positions should be adjusted as it can be in PES. more details in tactics!
You should be able to actually do something with your money instead of just being told your making 10,000 a week.... perhaps even the option to invest your own money into the club or a player..
Also i find that when you're in a job in your first or second season you're constantly hassled by other clubs but if you resign(so not to be hated by current employers) they're not interested..
One on one conversations with players, especially your up and coming youth stars, like:
1. Tell "Player" that you will monitor his progress in the next season and possibly offer him a full time contract based on good performances.
2. Tell "Player" that he has a good enough ability to possibly break into the first team if he improves with some training
3. Tell "Player" you see him as a long term investment and believe he could become an influential player for the club
And for your senior star players when big clubs come to poach them from you;
1. Tell "Player" that he has a bright future at the club and moving club now would be detrimental to his future development
2. Tell "Player" that if he moves to "Team" now he will most likely be on the bench and miss first team football
3. Tell "player" his future is at "current team" where he will become a "current team" legend
4. Tell "player" that "current team" can guarantee him european football this/next season and "Team" cannot
Considering that most players have favoured personnel, then an option like this will make that feature deeper and more believable. It also might make it possible for less affluent clubs to hang onto their future stars and raise the standard of the club on the world stage.
There should also be an option for a negative comment to another manager who is courting your star player. At the moment all you can say is whether you dislike him or not, so;
1. Tell "Manager" that you are extremely unhappy for unsettling "Player" who you believe has a bright future at the club
2. Tell "manager" that you appreciate his comments about "Player" but you see "player" as a long term investment and will not be selling him any time soon
3. Tell "manager" he is better off commenting about his own players and leave you to comment with your players privately
Also, when you're looking to buy a good player who initially rejects you, when you're offering a contract you should be able to mention how you see his role at the club if he signs;
1. Tell "Player" that you see him as a key player for the team and will build a team around him to push for success in "Competition"
2. Tell "Player" that you see him as an ideal partner for "Current Player" and believe you will make an incredible "Striking partnership/Midfield/Defensive duo"
3. Tell "Player" that your ambition holds no bounds and see him as the first of many good players you are looking to sign to drive the club forward to success (Have drop down menu here linked to shortlist of transfer tragets)
Tell "Player" you see these players as other potential signings (Confirm when player/s selected)
All in all - a deeper interaction between manager and players and manager and assistants/board/other managers/media etc is required.
Now the most interesting thing I would like to see is the expansion of the online idea. Multiple managers managing clubs they have created, all clubs have same amount of players with same attributes - making a level playing field. Then the managing of tactics and training and staff assignments really comes into play then because they will make the difference and actually prove who is a good manager not just the richest who can buy the best players. For people who do not want to become managers can apply for jobs to human managers as a coach, first team coach, scout or ass. manager. The advantage of hiring human staff would be that the players would respond better and human staff would have a more one on one approach than someone who wants to do it all themselves. This would require upping the level of detail in the online game so that it would really be difficult for someone to manage a team on their own. Not that it couldn;t be done, just that having human staff on board would be less time consuming and stressful for the manager. Human staff at a club could be approached by other clubs with a contract as a database could determine which human staff pay more attention to players needs, clubs progress, training/tactics etc. Leagues would be set up by online servers giving the option to play the league in real time ie. only able to play games against other human managers if both teams are actually online, or the league could be played as fast as you want and it is up to other human managers to catch up to determine the end of the league, defaulting their position in the league if they never come back online etc, holding everything else up. An idea that has endless possibilities and opportunities for multiplayer at the SAME team. Stats intensive, yes, but the devil's in the detail...
The future of FM no doubts about it.
i hope they get the rights for the english premier league aswell as the german national team cause its quite bad when the teams come up and they got the badge

george wood as for your comment the reason why arsenal is good is because as you know arsenal invests in young players so they own many wonder kids. I would like the camera to be like on we see today ex:zooming a player. I would also like the transfer budgets to be more realistic for example if you coach city you have £200 million to spend. Not only that but for example benfica with 30 million. A kind of player value also depending on titles. For ex: if you win the CL with a team similar to Panathinaikos you would sell normal players for 20 mil and finally the loan contract not being as easy as it is.

2nd anonymous from bottom i appreciate arsenal having an amazing youth team (from a chelsea fan) but i am just saying they can go the first season unbeaten with no new signings i understand they will win in a couple seasons in the game but right now?
I think one thing that would be good id when you are travelling to away matches in the league and especially in europe you can only take down a certain number of players with you. That way if one of your players is injured in the pre-game warm up you have two options, either draft in a new player from the squad at short notice or play someone you weren't expecting to. I think it'll be better. You could also have the opportunity to bring along youngsters for experience. Perhaps there could be a few more incidents like injury in the warm-up to the game, or something like that. Proper challenges.
I have bought every single game of football manager and champ manager that I can think of! I still call it Champ :)
Anyway down to business what I would love to see is a more detail history for appearances and goals etc for different cup competitions. Istead of just having the league stats, have them for league, FA cup, league cup and europe. :)
I think you should be able to start a season being a youth team manager and then maybe get offered the first team job there or at another club.
One thing i'd like to see, as a club manager being able to scout players yourself (same way as being an international manager) Go see players on your nights off and watch their games, you see real managers doing it all the time.
What about player-manager? is that possible?
I think you should be abel to design a new kit every season, as it does get boring after say 13 seasons still wearing the same old kit and also i think the loan systems needs working no like for example you can neever get a player on loan if he's in the first team whereas in real life those loans go on all the time, for example Mido.
I would like to see if you could organise your own press-conferences for events. Eg, when you have signed a new player.
i think u should b able to pick a sponsor from a multiple choice screen like fifa 09 so you can choose the most appealing option and if they
had the technology u would b able to create a new jersey every season not the same one throughout the game

its just the a case of sega having the right technolog to put it into the game
i think they should have larger rating increases for backup players that perform well all the time
it is more realistic because if you have an average 21 year old playing because the original one is injured he would only get starts when the other guy is out, but if he grew into a better player it would mean he was challenging for a first team start so it would leave the manager with more of a dilemma
i would also like to c better value for players, they should b rated on how they performed b4 u bought them not on how much you bought them for, this way a young wonderkid wouldnt b valued for 12 million if thats how much u bought him 4 it wud b how much he was b4 u bought him.

More realistic tranfers.
More realistic prices.
Ability to negotiate and talk with players attempting to sign.
More financial control of the team/club
Private negotiations with other clubs (your present club doesn't find out if you've applied for another job).
Better international management.
Better/quicker development of youth players.
That's all i can think of atm, it's a frustratingly brilliant game, i spent four seasons at the smallest club in Serie C1/A finishing 16th, 5th, 5th and 9th...extremely annoying, i just want to punch the screen when your players don't perform.

Yeah replying to the manager wage, you should have to use your wage for something more...as said before by someone, giving it to a charity or lower league club, but also isnt this game about being a football manager? well managers have to deal with their personal life..so why not have a very small basic system in the game which is based on the managers personal life outside of football...going out, celebrating...eventually gaining a family through the years, and having to pay for their needs, having a birthday, inviting players, buying a house...even suits or a tracksuit to aid your public image...then good or bad personal decisions may show up in the media...this could be good, realistic and quite funny at the same time
I think clubs that receive high transfer fees should have higher budgets
As someone else said, id like to see the "Rich" clubs start off with more money, its pretty ridiculous when Newcastle have a multi-billionaire owner and you get a £6m transfer budget.
I would like to see more realistic stadia.
I would like to see the ratings the stadiums in Europe have recieved from UEFA.
I would like more realistic atmoshpere in the stadiums.
I also want to have the ability for you to give preferences on Board decisions, such as sponsorships, loans etc.
The board would not have to listen to you, but they could go with your choice.
i hope SI will make the malaysia super league and premier league canget and buy foreign player at football manager 2010..tq
it would be nice if they make the manager accesible to his private life, like the money i earn i should be able to use it, buy a house, car, get a wife and have kids that can be footballers etc...
make training more usefull aswell, coz the current and past manager games are based on match day and media thats all....
just a bit of personal life will do...

The stadiums definitely need an improvement. Just having empty stadiums looks crap. More fan's chants would be nice!

the finance section could use an upgrade since money (income)is important in the game also maybe more options on updating stadiums i think i played in juventis for like 3or 4 years had good amount of money 300+ mil or so hell they could of taken a loan instead of playing in a staduim of 44 k people for such a team was always full and they woulnt gimmie a new stadium in arsenal kind of same although they had 60k+ but still crap load of money and full stadium still no new stadium played for 2-3 seasons there as well
First of all, for me FM 2009 is much better than FM08.
Maybe it's because of the 3d match.. but I really got back my motivation to play football manager ..
I think that improvement gotta be made without messing the game.. SI Games waited a lot to put the 3d match, cause it could mess the game.. so I think they have to be a bit conservative on changes..
I agree that the game is too exact when it's about player development (mainly when you use genie scout.. lol)
There should be more of a misterious about players future.. cause even game's scouts now are pretty good at their predictions..
The game speed is a big problem,especialy when processing international games when im only a club manager.getting the license for the premier league would be great.and looking at control over sponsers.would be awsome to have the option wether you want more control(i.e over season ticket prices and sponsers) or wether just to keep managing. better player interaction woul also be great..but dont expect to big changes,usually every 2 years they chage a lot and 2009 is GREAT
it would be great if you choose the languages you want to learn, and if you have something like a family... like in fifa manager... i think that si games should see fifa manager 2009 and make some changes to football manager...
u should be able to manage a national and club team like guus hidink in real life. and they should develop manager profile more
i would like to see more things with the "fans" in terms of the firms/ultras. now hear me out, i know they get a lot of negative attention but i feel they're the passion of the club. so what i would like to see implemented is somehow positive/negative effects coming from the crowds. for example if you're under performing, they will act out and voice their frustration and perhaps even relapse into anger (flares, crowd trouble). i know it has nothing to do with gameplay really but it would make for interesting games. should something happen you will receive crowd bans and loss of revenue. also the crowd should be able to influence your players and spur them on if they crowd is rallying and like what they see from the players. the environment of a home match should be felt more. maybe make some players playing away to play more jittery and react differently if they don't have high determination and concentration. maybe the crowd can get on the backs of certain players also, by whistling/booing/chanting. so that they miss control or become angry if their personality/stats permit it. i don't see it happening enough in the game really.
also more interacting with the refs i think should be considered. complaining, diving, explanations for no calls. maybe implement stats into refs even? like with managers/players. i know no one likes a diver but like it or not it is a big part of the game and should be implemented somehow to be able to use (for better/worse).

Firstly,using the internet to download the game is ridiculous. i think that, when earnt enough, you should be able to buy a lower league club, and become manager, like Graham Turner did at Hereford. Better variety of press conference and team talk statements also.
A transfer more in line with the modern way of working. You draw a shortlist or just name one specific target and then it's down to your board to deliver. You can be involved with trying to persuade the player by talking up the future, your plans etc but the financial side gets done by the MD or the GM.
FM needs a lot of new features. Its a great game its just annoying spending £30 buying every year when barely anything has changed. I would like to see:
better answers in press confrences.
i hate it when you refuse to comment on a question so they ask you the question again!
another thing i would like to see is you can do something with your salary.
things such as buy a smaller club or even buy things like property and cars (bit like fifa man).
better team talks would be nice insted of the same ones over and over again.
tactics need improving alot. I mean my friends want to play the game but the tactics are getting to hard now so they do not want to play no more because they can never win.
training, i like the idea of being able to pick coaches for specific training catagories but i do not like the way you do training. I think that when you go on the training page you see a scheduale and you choose what your team does for that week. (like the 4-4-2 manager game).
the youth system needs to be improved especially in England. I hate the fact that my domestic player bias is at 5 because i only buy foreign youngsters because the english youngsters are all awful, theres only a few decent ones.
I think you should be more involved in finances aswell like finding out what these non-football costs are that keep eating away at my budget. you should also be able to throw events like fan days to get better attendences, and fund raisers to help get your team more money when falling in debt.
Winning appeals for red cars would be nice. Ive had FM since 2005 and i think ive only ever won one appeal.
scrap the 3d match engine its bad. terrible graphics, slows down the computer and makes it need more RAM.
should be able to talk to your board more develop a strong link.
I also think that you as a manager should have favoured personnel and favourite teams. these should be developed through managing teams an manager and player interactions.
when you tell a player to learn a new trait succh as placew the ball when shooting they should do it not decide weather to do it.
Tapping up players is a good idea but it will be really annoying when it happens to you.
get rights for premiership, germany, and all the tournaments.
players should do what you tell them to aswell. Like when i tell my team to play possesion football doing short passes at a quick tempo, id like it if they did that but it never seems to happen.
going back to training i think that the manager should be able to watch it and when the assistant gives you a training report you should be able to talk to the player under performing and tell them to sort it out.
finally, and the most important in my eyes! STOPPAGE TIME i hate it when there is about 3 minutes stoppage time time and the opposition score in like the 96th minute.

A greater variation in youth players and how to get them. so young players from the factories of Boca and Barcelona will get more interest press attention and higher price tags were as local players (which should be better there is never a true star English player) would be dirt cheap. i also think there should be a choice of the football camps in places like Africa or South America. so if you send lots of your great player more kids will go and there will be a higher chance of finding a super star and scouts can have a reputation say "he found messi and brought him to Barcelona"

but remember championship[sp] manager when you could move a player to anywhere on the pitch and not just fixed positions.
also the player runs are VERY limited.

They should do like they did in FM08(no internett, just the game). And also there are too many bugs on this game!! I myself cant play FM09 because there is something wrong with the CD-key. I have tried every answer to this sulotion, but its done nothing!!
I think that they could improve the tactic setup, like that it would be overall, then a special for attacking and defending, that how the players should be placed and what they would do.
A more in-depth negotiation system with players, and when discussing your contract with a club would be good. Like you could demand that certain facilities get upgraded if you sign, etc.
Also, press conferences when you sign new players, as in real life, where you talk about your plans and expectations for the player.
More management features would be better. I have not read all comments, so I apologise if this has already been mentioned:
I would have liked it to be possible to actually "become" a current manager who is already at a club.
Say eg. you would like to manage Liverpool, you could have the choice of either becoming Rafa Benitez,
or creating your own manager-profile from scratch.
If you choose to become Rafa, you inherit his reputation, stats (mental, tactical, relationships to other managers etc)
so you get a chance to start playing the game without getting managers sacked and continuing building a team through the same manager etc.
Would be nice to see even more interaction with the board (over transfer money and all sorts of other things that one sees in real life)
and I also think there could be more use of media with more and broader use of mind-play.

should be team bonding sessions. this happens all the time in real life....eg, golf days and team quizes. and the scouting should be upgraded. no teams send a person with a pad and pen to brazil anymore they set up kind of training camp whee they can look a loads of diff players.
I hope they will go back to the way it was when you did not have to activate the game through internett. I cant play this game now because of that. And i hope that there will be not so many bugs in this game!!!
It would be nice to have the ability to be able to customize the youth system in some way. I.e. put more money into it and be able to focus on a type of player to get.

I'd like to be able to encourage the payers while they're on the pitch not just change the tactics, even if they just let you encourage the players your bringing on as subs.
i think you should be able to choose your own sponsors, and if you create your own club you should be able to customize your teams kits and badge which could apply to a normal team aswell, also it would be better if you could see your teams kit on the match screen instead of the badges.
i think a players attributes should reflect is ability e.g a player with a lot of good atributes and good enough to play in the premierleague, but when you get a scout report on him with a 20/20 scout it says that he would only be a good championship player this happened when i signed saviola.
They should create Kits, Sponsor logo's into the game. So for example, as man utd u can select Nike, Adidas or Umbro etc... N then they should allow the manager to select the kit for the next season, ie. produce 3 optional kits (designs) and then we get to choose which style of shirt our boys will wear next season :D
I hope than you can offer a contract before you make an offer for the player to the club, you know, so for example: I offer a contract to Lionel Messi and afterthat i try to buy him...

1. I dont know how come nobody mentioned the opponent instructions bit, i hope the fm09 haters know about this function before commenting anything because this makes a whole world of difference. I think there should be an automated function according to what your ass man tell u about opponent instructions as i spend a gazillion hours setting up opponent instructions. Feels like an unreasonable cause for carpal tunnel syndrome!
2. The Virtual striker 3d is a brilliant start but is quite annoying if you cant move the cameras around. 3d facial structure is also useless if you cant zoom in to look at their faces. I understand that compromise needs to be made to the operation requirements but i think at the end of the day it is worth it for the amount of hours we all spend playing this game.
3. totally agree on commentaries, i think that they (at SI) realised that its a pandoras box when they introduced this and (just like the 3d view). Because with restrictions of content and the limited ability to recycle comments, users will feel annoyed rather than appreciating the new function. But I believe that the database of comments is a matter of effort and can slowly grow in size with time.
4. For a game whose fun factor lies almost largely on the excitement of developing new talents I think that the match engine needs to realise the strength of the team (if its playing second strings) and apply it to the match analysis and odds. I dont know if its just me or the league cup (in the EPL) is easier to win if u play second strings of players, esp when u use the big clubs. This goes on to show that there is an ability for the match engine to recognise second string players and should be switched on for every matches in every competition.
5. I dont know if I want FM to start getting out of the scope of football game and introducing girlfriends and offsprings like some new, offbeat football manager simulator does. But at the same time I really think that a reward system for us the managers should be made available, i’e unlocking legendaries for just for fun matches, imagine looking at the FM statistics of garrincha or maradona!! and maybe like someone said above, use the money to build ur own football academy and eventually manage ur own football club.
6. If I can be so optimistic as to ask for voice commentaries when playing the match in real time? Naming pronounciation problems can be addressed with calling out shirt numbers instead just like Pro-evolution soccer.
7. Staff recruitment is too easy for human players and often I would control a major club and readily pay $1,000,000 for a real madrid staff to break their contract and join the club. In real life the chairman would not let you pay so much for just a coach!
8. Assistant Managers should be smarter in controlling the reserve team and should always pick the team according with, the goal, of keeping the squad in full fitness and not necessarily winning every game. Assistant managers should also suggest the best tactic that you can play in with your current squad.
9. Young players should be given less natural talent and can be developed more with training and good form in reserve / under-18 matches. Ive tried to develop young talented 16yr olds with maximum efforts for 3 seasons without any of them becoming wonderkids. Training should show its rewards more often or become redundant.
10. Motivational words should have more variety (depth) and also more logical. Players also should approach u more often so u know whats going on. Hence making you more psychologically in touch with the players. Maybe during halftime they can make suggestions to u.
11. Going into the details:
- one thing id like to see is a proper celebration for winning a trophy instead of just a chockfull of texts of praises. Maybe a team photo every season to put in your office along with a trophy cabinet.
-Testimonials are also really awesome for legendary players. It gives us the reminder and motivation to play them even when theyre old instead of letting them rot and die in the bench.
-If we can also have more players staying in the game after they retire as staffs it will also be great.
-customising the football shirt every season will also work well along with the introduction of 3d view.
12. As to the sliders, tactics and getting rid of the messy multi directional player movement arrows is actuallly doing a wonderful job and is an improvement as far as im concerned and I wouldnt want the SI team to waste more time on it as there are other far more pressing. I think though, more descriptions need to be made on the functions of some of the complicated and less used tactical options, ie. when u highlight target man, the pop up message just says “tick to use target man”, which is stating the obvious and ridiculous for someone who does not know football vocab.
-Lastly, FM is the only computer game i can never drop in all these years, I think FM franchise is truly the best individual game of all time! Please make FM 10 the legendary one!
It would also be nice to create your own team and start in the lower leagues.
I haven't read all the posts, so it may be mentioned somewhere else. But I would like a kit selector for each new season. Being a Liverpool fan and stock with the same grey kit as your away kit every season is not good. I think each team should have a choice of maybe 3 or 4 colours for a new away kit each season (i.e Liverpool normally rotate between yellow, white or green) and the designs could be random (hoops, stripes etc). You could also have the option of keeping the previous seasons kit if you can't be bothered to change it.
automatic squad rotation would be cool. also it would be good if there were different game modes e.g. single match, tournaments, without playing in a season mode. something should be done about player wages too :)

i'm always wondering..how the SI team determine the ability each of the player or staff..as i can remember when i was addicted to cm3, at that time wayne rooney is just one of useless youngster player..don't really have good attributes & would never become a player like he is now...is this thing still happening?..i'm not sure about that...
when a player was transfer listed by his club & he is also wanted by other club, my bid for him always rejected..although i bid according to the asking price..but the club always received the offer from other club..this is not cool to me :(
i think there should be a program like the data editor but a lot easier to update for the new season
As someone who play this game for long time i am delighted with every new feature in sequel.
Still some of ideas i have are not implemented yet :
1. it would be great if you can as manager ask your bord to give you money for one desired player as future star. I know this things happens in real life. Imagine situation you all experienced :) when you have couple of millions less for some class player. And board just not interested in this problem. I suggest to insert an option in which you can ask from your board - once in a season, depends on your financial statue or your reputation to provide you extra money for designated player only. Also it would be great if you as manager can have some kind of attribute which can describe your sense of buying players.
2. Fans are so underrated in this game. More fans options are necessary in order to bring this game more to reality. For instance - you can ask from your fans to make some kind of choreography or to be loud or something on the big match. This thing in real life is most stimulating thing of the game. Football is played for fans, so they can give the edge to your players and this option should be in next sequel. Depends of moral or experience are extra motivated when the fans put up a show.

sily, silly idea about using your wages to buy attributes, this game is about trying to simulize real life football environments, how is buying attributes going to make the game better. go play fifa!!! More interaction with players is definatley needed, more in game tactics options (quicktactics) are needed. A good option for assistant would be for you to have a real life assistant, ie online you and a friend could be manager and assistant!. Also you could apply for assistant positions or be approached about becoming assistant at some clubs. Stadium building and expansion should be left to the board! Matchdays could be a bit more glamourous, if you get to cup finals or playoffs or title deciders there could be something that makes it feel like a massive match and day! Like trophy presentations and interaction before the match etc. loads and loads of ideasrunning around my head!!!!!
you should be able to hype big games such as champions league final and also create rivalries between managers and their clubs such as man utd and liverpool
1. Be able to find sponsors for teams
2. change kits end of season from generated list of options and input
3. ability to issue better press releases - ie when managers are annoying you over players they want
4. the 2008 tactic system since you could move the arrow as far as you wanted
5. all club logos - dont be tight

i hope in the new fm you will be able to be a club manager and international manager at the same time.the kits should change every season.you will be able to work your way up from a coach to a chairman once you retire.board meetings every so often. better interaction when signing a player seceretly aplly for other jobs without any public knowledge and fans are more important and have a big say!!

I think there needs to be more interaction with the players. More things you can say and ask them to do. Needs to be more team talk before and at half time and what about issuing instructions during the match. More options when talking to the press because at first it was good but it just ends up the same questions and you find yourself giving the same answers so you just end up getting the assistant to do them. what are the points of managers wage? Also more options when trying to sign players
FM 2009, In Italy-Serie-A Division, We have no more than 2 Non-EU player signed from abroad per season.
But, when we sold out-of-our national 1 Non-EU from our club, we weren't added 1 Non-EU player signed from abroad per season.
I hope that FM 2010 will modify that error to obtain our justice on transfer market.
How about bonus in their contracts? houses, car, holidays?
make assistant manager more usefull, for example he can recomend a good training for team or individual, more control of player prefered moves, for example we can ask the player for use his prefered move more often or rarely in match, & the most important thing is when a real manager watch his team match, many of them usually shout from the bench to encourage or to give instruction for the squad, why we can't do that in football manager ????
why dont they make the dof and chairman involved more eg. in real life it is often the chairman or dof who finalise a deal rather than a manager.
It would be good to say to your chairmen i want this player at all costs and your chairman would go on try and sign the player.

I would like FM 2010 to have a new tactic screen, with new movements and allowing us to place players in other places in the field; i'd also like to see the board's ability; i'd also like the training to get more simple, as I think it's too complicated and doesn't have a lot of effect on players; i'd also like young players to apear without stupid and unreal atributes like 1 on agility or 1 on strenght (for example); or 1,90m and 90kg at the age of 16!!!!!!; i'd also like fm 2010 to allow us to make a meeting with the board to prepare next season, where we could ask for certain players and the board could suggest us others when the ones we asked werent possible;i'd also like to see portuguese young players to be better than they are in the game (how can norwegian, danish or scottish, with all due respect, be better than portuguese in the game??); I'd also like fm 2010 to allow us to get to see the stadiums in the back (as cm used to do) and the croud should sing songs like "glory glory man utd" or "you'll never walk alone"; i'd also like fm 2010 not to allow small teams to get lots of money. how can a small team in portugal (like leiria, braga or belenenses) buy a player for 3, 4 or 5M€??? I can assure you that it never happened and never will. Only FCPorto and SLBenfica (well, benfica with a lot of difficulty) can do it. not even sporting can do that.

I think the players potential showd be important but the training showd have a better effect. There are players who doesn't have a lot of potential but always do well.

I want to be chairman (or own the club) in fm 2010.
FM 2010 should be aware that almost in all counties (except england and scotland) who deals with player buying or selling aren't managers but the board. So if we choose to be managers, we wouldn't be able to do that, but only to suggest players to the board. If we choosed to be chairman, we would be able to sack and hire the manager, buy players, etc...
i hope they let you have 1 on 1meetings with the player you want to sign or with their agents and have boardmeetings. and i think they should have commentary on the matches because they are a bit boring on football manager 2009.
All the club and the game features have been recommended by dearest FM consumers.
One recommedation I would like to give on events. More realistic events on players like players get their ass into troubles outside the club and how managers deal with the player and press. Also FA interventions on these sicky ass players.
EG.
events like players involved in a brawl outside the club. player involved in a molest case. Spitting at fans, in-game fights(so far this never occur in FM), scandalism and so on.
consequence may vary like banned from football, service dismissal by the clubs, serving long term ban issued by the FA etc.

I think that they should definitely allow managers to:
- Choose their 'favoured personnel'. As they are our favoured personnel, why can't we choose who they are?
- Select what teams they have played for before (i.e. former Chelsea player or AC Milan players have better reputations with those clubs from the start).

2nd the manager profile sucks its shit they should make it so you can do more stuff like your wages you cant do nothing you should be able to put the money towards tranfers or when you get money from winning thing you should be able to buy a club o and you say how much money you get from buying hotdogs to season tickets...you should have more contact options with players like how you talk in a bored meeting but so you are talking to the player its self...

I never read all of the posts but what I would like to see is more interaction with board members and chairmen from other clubs, Say you get the sack from your club or resign we all know it takes forever to get another decent job, but if you had a friendship with board members or a chairmen from another club or was a previous choice of his and his team wasn't doing well he would offer you the position
I hope, the game is more easy to install, more speed if we use the 3D view, and more realistic..For example if the players have a problem with his behaviour like doing night club, fighting with team mates, drink too much, so we can fine them.
I would like an improved youth intake system... for example to convoke players to try themselves n the club and then you get to pick the ones you like.
I would also prefer if the youth teams where separated according to ages. F.E.: U19,U18,U17,etc
Please please please get a license for the German national team. Two times in a row I was knocked out of the World Cup by Germany 'captain' Schwarz' goals. Who? It's extremely annoying to get to the semis with Ghana and Senegal and to be destroyed by a bunch of fake players, especially when they score from 40 yards out twice in as many minutes.
I think they should put the badges and pictures of clubs and players in the english premier league.
When managing a National team, just have ever available player for that country in the National Pool....right now you have to add new players to it every single season

i think it would be prety cool if it was a bit like sims so you coul interact more, and watch training and speak to you coaches more. i think this would be awesom but that is just my opinion

i would like 2 see an option the allows you to start the league from the beginning of the season or different stages of the season, so as 2 reflect the position the teams are in real life. this will give you a real life feeling of managing a team battaling releggation and so on
I would like to see certain players improved,for instance the 18 yr old Rafael at utd,who in real life has the potential to be a very good player but the game says he has no future at the club.united start with like 12 million and it states there rich.
Also Arsenal are too good and always finish 1st or 2nd in the league.
And finally,the injuries.FM 09 has way too many injuries and to players that aren't injury prone in real life,sometimes 3 and 4 players going off on a stretcher in a game,it's not aussie rules football!
I think you should be ale to make an input on training by going down and watching like watching a match but it is training you then have a drop down menu of activities that you train on e.g Shuttles Dribbling Crossing Heading...
Then you choose who you would like to train on this activity so eg heading - defenders...
I think that they should have a better kit and sponsership system, at the beginning of the season you should receive offers of companies that want to sponser you. Then this sponsership that you choose appears on the players' shirt. Also i believe that there should be a different way in scouting players, at the moment it is out of your control, i think during the international break or in pre-season you should be able to go to a country and watch a load of youths.
I think that on the match screen you should be able to see the manager. Also you could set the camera so you could see the game through his eyes. Also talking to a sub before he comes on to motivate him.
I totally agree with the stadiums thing. You could build up your stadium and view it in football management games on the Amiga back in the early nineties... why is it so hard to do now?
I read some joker on another forum saying to implement fan violence into the game. I'm fairly sure he was being serious aswell.
I personally can't think of many more changes they can now ake to the game without ruining it. Maybe bring in sponsor selection and the stadium view like the management games of old, and just be done with it forever - only release updates to squads and graphics from there onwards.

there are several things that i would like to see in FM10. I havent got 09 due to me not wanting to start over again as i am in the year 2021
1st - I would like to be able to transfer older games from previous FMs over to this one so you could continue but you would have all of the new games features
2nd - I would like for you to be able to pick a kit for the club each season, or every other season
3rd - I would like it if you got the English Premier League Liscense
4th - I would like it if you could have an actual life on it, so a social life.. and as somebody else menitioned do things that would result in the media saying something. Also so that you could actually use the money that you are getting, on my game i am getting 35k per week and cant spend it.
5th - I would like for you to be able to pick sponsors for the club and for it to be possible to see the kit properly and to have the sponsor showing properly on the 3D match view (i have seen by comments and heard that it isnt too good)
6th - I would like to be able to set the name for the new stadiums built
7th - I would like to be able to have a child and have him play eventually but not do anything like buy attributed for him cus that would ruin the point of it.

there should be an option regarding being married and already having kids so you dont have to wait 18 years before they are actually possibly a decent player you should be able to say they are maximum 15 so that they can come into the youth academy in the 2nd season
I would like to have more financial power..make marketing stronger..attract bigger sponsors, increase TV money, show the players ability to sale shirts..more youths at every team..football academies, so your scout can watch more youths..more youths competition..and younger players 10,11,12 and 13, so you can really see a player grow
I really think FM should focus on defence a bit more, because in the FM2009 defenders and goalies make some stupid mistakes..and please make the penalty taking more realistic. I mean everybody scores from penalties.
Stadiums should look like the real thing. I mean many small stadiums(5000 to 12000 capacity) look like 50000 in 3D mode. Also abot 3D..show us some rain or some snow or even a burning sun during a game. And it would be very nice to have more topics to ask the board roam: build a new stadium, try to attract more sponsors, create a local, regional or national youth academy
Hey..I'm 23 and I'd like to start 23 not 29..so please FM staff do something about this..and please get the stupid licence for Germany..it's been 3 or 4 FMs since we could manage Germany
I would like to be able to pick a new kit design. It might be every season or every 2 seasons but the board should say about Januaury that a new kit will be unveiled in pre-season and then in about April May time they should give you designs so you can pick out of 2,3 or 4 designs. Then in about June the new kit should be unveiled. I also like the bit about saying Press Conferences when you sign players or something like that but I think that there will have to be varied questions as I got bored of all the rest of the press conferences.
I hope they make it easier, so your team can do well in the premier league :L, instead of lose to teams like wigan :L

i would love for them to uprade the player interaction for example when a new player has joined a club they can 'officially' welcome them to the club. also they need to make more options for the tactics..its way to limited.
when you want to buy a 'world class' player you should discuss with the board whether it is a correct move to go for that certain player.
When players win awards there should be an award ceremony that will unveil the winner of that percific award
And God they need to change the layout of the game its kinna getting really boring...add new pictures and colours or something!
A private area like total club manager implemented. You can manage your persona life, buy homes etc. There is no point in negotiating your wages if you have no incentive and nothing to spend it on.
I think that you should interact more like talking to player's agent, persuade the board to give you more money etc... but having a better 3D view is pointless :(

I think that you should be able to negotiate for you sponsors as this is not realistic!
Also there should be a home screen of the clubs stadium (as in ultimate football manager had) The stadium should also be able to be upgraded and redesigned as you would like to see it, with club logs, nicknames etc as a choice for designing on the seating area.
There should also be a way in which players can advise you as manager or other clubs of there desire to play for that club. This will then tempt you to have a look at them, or make you aware of their interest in the club.
Also it is currently very unrealistic playing as Celtic, if you win the Euro League the following season there are less players interested in your team. This should be looked at as a sucessful european team (regardless of playinf in scotland) should surely attract better players than it currently does!?!?!
Much more to follow as FM needs a total revamp - becoming boring now!!!
There is something i really want in football manager 2010..... and that is.......to create your own team/club.........starting with a fixed amount of money and chosing what league to play in and the design of the logo :P. ...........that .....will be the best game ever.......and of corse.........WHY NOT! use your made teams and face other teams online! with rankings and ...and ! yh.......
I think we all want to see fm2010 having many more improvements such as: being able to manage ur personal life, more interaction with team and also press conferences
just hope that fm2010 includes all these and also fix the ridiculous wage budget.
(According to the game Barcelona is the richest club but u only start off with a measly budget of less than 10 million) i mean WTF!!!
I think there should be more emphasis on the backroom staff with more realistic roles in the club sitiuation. For example reserve team manager, Academy director, chief scout, club doctor.
Also maybe look at the youth set ups.

the amount of travel is important when u coach a team from vladivostok

They should improve scouting cos im sick of scouts losing there knowldege all the time, and to improve the feeder/affilite options.
I want more competitions!!:P The little countries have to be in the game too, but the lower divisions of middle (and so Holland too), linked to the Second Division. And a 'make your own team' or 'make your own competition, linked to the lowest division of that country.'

hahahahahah its football manager not the fecking sims!!!!! all this talk of having kids and using money to buy houses and cars and go on the best holidays and shag the ladies!!!! its so silly. come on if u want that then go and moan at EA and ask to be able to manage a football team in the SIMS..!!!! i do think FM need to change a lot of things .lets face it FM 2009 is...FM2006 just wit a few new things.....good and bad.....international part is still awfull and so unrealistic. i think if FM2010 is just like 09 then alot of fans will give up on it ! im back playing FM 2008 now cos the .international part is million times better and there is no press conf in it !!!!

I like the idea of using your manager wages for something. I, like others, reduce the managers wage to almost zero, so you have more wages for your players.
I would like to be able to design my own kit/colours. yes keep the badge, but change the design or colours.
Also think it could be a good idea to have a tutorial in the game to show you what the game can do and not, THIS COULD BE YOUR COACHES BADGE. Then you could start your career as coach or assistant manager, YOU GET THE IDEA and work your way up.
Also can their be an application to highlight several players at once and give them an instruction i,e. when selling a lot of players at once, you have to list each one individually, it takes to long. If i could highlight six,seven,eight or more players at once and click on a button to say "place players on transfer list"
1 - More control over finances (Sponsorship etc...)
2 - Ability to either customize your strip for a new season, or you kit manufacturer does it for you
3 - More control over stadium expansion/moves and naming. For example, you manage your club to several successive league titles and European wins, the board/chairman decides to name the stadium or a stand after you, in your honour...
3 - a little thing, but testimonials for retiring players would be nice. Just had Stevie G retire after several fantastic seasons, helping me to cups and leagues galore...now he just fizzled out and went straight into coaching with no mention of his playing accolades...

This is what i would like to see in FM 2010
1 - Realistic player values. EG, on 2009 Man city wont accept 30 million for micah richards, when everyone knows he's not worth that yet.
2 - Manager Shoutouts. EG, when in a game, you should be able to shout out things like Attack etc. like on LMA.
3 - With some teams there's players that play for them which nobody can sign from them due to them being made up. They should be removed and just have regens put on the teams instead of them.
4 - Press Conferences need to be less often, and the questions should change every press conference.
5 - Premier League License needs to be added.
6 - Chairmans need to play a bigger role in the club rather than just sacking a manager and deciding wether or not to build stadums/upgrade facilitys.
There is alot of room of improvement.
Man City, Real Madrid and Chelsea with alot of money buy all the good players but most of them stay on the bench. In game managers should alter the Formation according to the players they buy and some sort of AI that don't buy too many players in the same position.
I had one season where real madrid bought Fabregas but the managers preferred formation was with 2 defensive midfielder and 1 attacking central. SO there was no place for fabregas in the starting XI. I find that strange.
And also Ribery cannot make it in the french national squad, unbelivable.
I think when you sign a manager contract and you earn money over your career you save it up and then you can buy a football club and control them in the hiring of staff and managers, and making money available.
i think it would be cool if they got the crests for all the teams/competitions. the profile pics would be nice too. :)
There should be a "No Sacking" option, so that u can play with 1 team for as long as you like and go up and down leagues!!
Personally I am a long term fan playign the game since the first Champ man game. However being such a fan I think the games should be restricted to every 2 years. I am still playing my first team and in my 7th season and when the new one comes out for xmas time, I will still be half way through what i want to acheive in this game. I feel a game every 2 years will allow people to have substantial playing time with the current game and will give SI games longer to produce a newer version with more updates and features.
Improve game intelligence, where as your club grows in stature you can get the option of seeking club takeovers in order to increase club income.... maybe do it the same as way as you can apply for staff, a list of potential suitors could be added to a shortlist and you can choose by reputation, depndant of course on the size of the club or success of the club? Just an idea
There should be a chairman mode were you can hire and fire managers and invest accordingly.
also mamagers should be able to use carear earnings to buy clubs.
and for god sake will they stop making tranfers fees unrealistic.Vidic cost me £63mil were as Villa cost me £84mil. Its just rediculous

First, convince players of coming to club.
Second, be able to use play teams from past.
Third, in search options, be able to pick: "played for in past"
forgot to say: be able to get through games a tad faster, like only seeing scores at half time and end.
there should be more argentinian and brazilian stars coming through.

i fell out of love with FM 09. it got off to such a terrible start and for me it just never got better. i hope they realise you dont have to redo a formula to make a game better i think they need to look at previous editions such as 01/ 02 and realise they dont need to keep changing the whole system just improving wehat people fell in love with.
