My first team in FM 2009 - Hull City

I want to introduce my new football club - Hull City. I'm a new manager of "The Tigers"! After some doubts I decided to start the brand new game in Football Manager 2009 demo with the team that you, my dear readers, selected for me in the poll. The doubts were actually linked with size of database in the demo. It's pretty small if you use quickstart. But anyway I don't want you to wait for my new story, and that's why I'm writing this first post. Soccer Ball

Hull Info

Hull had never played in the Premier League and has no rivals in it therefore.

Starting Hull in Football Manager 2009

By the way, pay attention to the new fields in clubs information screen: Average Ticket Price and Average Season Ticket Price. Just some small but nice new FM 2009 features.

Though the most interesting information on the screen shot is, of course, Media Prediction of taking 20th position in the end of the season. Well, seems like I have the weakest team by squad in the Premier League. Thinking

But I didn't choose 'Try to avoid relegation' and assured the board that Hull must avoid returning into the Coca-Cola Championship. Quite brave. For that I have $7.25M for transfer due to this claim:

Season expectations, Hull, FM 2009

Using new Football Manager 2009 features

Assistant gives advices about squad

In the very start of the season I was reported by Hull assistant of strength of players I have:

Assistant squad report in Football Manager 2009

The most useful thing here is that assistant determined the most problematic position and even gave some pieces of advice about it. There are 3 goalkeepers adviced by him: Ian Walker, Joe Murphy, Paul Smith. What I can say! He is right about the problem: Hull has quite weak goalie Boaz Myhill. I will certainly work in this direction during transfers period.

My first press conference

It was pretty interesting to answer those questions. I was optimistic about the debut of my Hull in the Premier League. Comparing different areas of the team I singled out the midfield admitting that I have the rather good halfbacks in the squad:

I praise Hull's midfield, FM2009

What's interesting - the reaction of one of the midfielders Halmosi on my thoughts told on the press conference (new features as well):

Reaction on my praise, FM 2009

So that's was my first experience with Football Manager 2009. Frankly speaking, I'm playing it not too much due to numerous bugs. But I don't stop the process of managing Hull, just doing it pretty slowly looking forward to release of FM 2009 and the first patch for it.

    good luck with Hull,
i got f.m yesteday, after all the mix ups with the product keys, i finally started as QPR, they gave me 11.5 mil for saying i will finish in the top half :). so i brought Thomas Graverson on a free (i recemend for Hull) also Fabian Delph (Leeds Youngest), Kevin Doyle, Robbie Savage, Jermain Easter and a left back called Fox, anyway i started the season well 2 wins, 2 draws, then a concisdent run of injerys with Doyle out for 4 months, then i was 2-0 up 2 games in a row and draw both 2-2, i consede many goals by long shots. in this case i cant help but thinking the 'bugs' in the game affects the game enjoyablty heavly. so i'd like to ask yu, have you exprienced any upseting 'bugs' yet? and do you agree that youngsters are geting harder to spot early ?

  20. asada Says:

    hi vitaliy..
is there any relationship between good coach n players?

  21. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    asada,
every player has Favoured Personnel record on "Personal screen". Coaches can be reminded there. If any coach is reminded then interaction between him and player is better and more effective

Hi Vitaly. I am new here and I have a problem. When I start a new game on a huge database and when I have to attend the first press conference I can t see the questions and answers and I can t continue before finishing that conference. I even tryed to send assistant, but I don t have that option in huge database.

Im in 2017 with hull i won nothing for 5 years finishing 15th 14th 10th 8th and 6th and now i have won euro cup 2 years on the trot and the super cup 2 years aswell, havnt finished any higher than 6th!!! hull are the hrdest team iv managed, my star buys have beenn Thiago Luis, Willians Santana, and Leo. all brazilians all class. i know habe Akinfeev and Veloso and then computer generated players all great, unbeleavale team! Best signings i made in year 1 were binya from benfica 160k, ljundberg from seattle 12k. Gravesen free agent, i swapped Turner for Mido, had no goals n Boro wanted turner. Boaz Myhill was great for me for 2 years i would have been relegated if it wasn't for him, Zayatte turns out to be great and he can play anywhere. Zayatte was the only real hull player i had left in my squad after 3 years cus they are shit, and it is very hard to keep em up, me n my m8 tried alot n kept getin rlegated then i started ne day whilst he started as man city and it just clicked, o yeah and keep an eye on Jack Wilshere, on mine he went free transfer 2nd season to Boro and i signed him for 15 mil, he is now england captain, and on my m8s game he went on free transfer didnt get a club and retired at 21!!!! shocker!!!!
