HullFree transfer players in Football Manager 2009
When you start a game in Football Manager 2009 you can go to Player Search and set just one filter: Value is at most 0. The search results will contain FM 2009 players that can be signed for free. The most interesting thing is that there are some pretty good guys. I decided to create shortlist of the best free transfer players:

Matias Lequi can be considered as a good free agent player also. He is a good Defender .. former Lazio and RiverPlate DLC. His defending skill is pretty good, except his speed and accel to anticipate fast runner forward.

Very good list. I bought some of them for my Gimnastic team. Just a small recommendation though. How about putting an injury status for the players in the list? As far as I know, Ronaldo, Appiah, etc have injuries that don´t allow them to pass the medical test. I think this feature would make your list more accurate.
One more thing, I found another free player, namely Daniel Bilos, he is Argentinian, 27 years old, 3 caps for Argentina and 1 goal. For lower league clubs he is excellent. Plays as AML

diego tristan: he is 32 years old but a good striker (west ham).
Hatem Trabelsi: brilliant defender 31 years old (free)
Levan tskitishvili: good midfielder also 31 (free)
Alvaro Novo: absolutely great 30 years old and bags in lots ov goals and he is a midfielder(free)
for those who are planning on promotion with a championship team, try some of these:
GK - Aleks Kolin'ko - decent GK. i only plan on using him for half a season, then he'll be my back-up 'til i'm promoted to the premiership.
Defenders - Lamine Diatta - Strong, aggressive, pretty quick, good defender. great heading/jump. bit old, but good for the job. reasonable tackling..
Phillipe Christanval - strong mentally, good STR/heading, not so good tackling (as previously stated)
Djibril Diawara - very good physically, including some pace :O
pretty good defensive stats, decent mental atributes, too. well worth a look (his stats have varied on two games of mine).
Marvin Andrews - aggressive, determined, brave CB. strong, with a great jump, and very good heading ability. everywhere else is.. not very good xD
still, at £500 p/w, may be available for lower league teams!
Midfielders - Jean-paul Kalala - decent DM. nothing special, but he can do a job. available for under 50k, on 1k per week.
Dave Brammer - decent DM. available on a free transfer, and cheap wage (1,200 on mine). 33, so.. pushing it a bit. i plan on using him for a season or two as back-up
Seyfo Soley - good DM. very strong, great header of the ball. decent technical skills, good physical skills, but not too impressive mentally. still, available for a free, and is an accomplished CB for extra cover.
Koki Mizuno - right winger. quick, decent player. available on a free from celtic. young (only 22), but seriously lacks mental attributes. he's my back-up right winger.
Brian Kerr - decent CM. he's my back-up, along with a few others. nothing particularly special, but was very solid pre-season (adding a couple of goals).
Fabian Delph - very promising CM, from leeds united. cost me 750k, and he's on 6k a week, but.. i think he'll be worth it. available alot cheaper if you're a top team, but i thought he was worth it!
Fredrik Ljungberg - was at seattle, with a 14k release clause. he's now on 2k p/w. former arsenal winger, right or left. and at 31, he still has some mileage.
Dries Boussatta - very cheap, but very old! at 35, he's past it. but available for free on only 500 p/w, still a decent buy. decent physical skills (suprisingly), and technically good. not too special mentally, but he's only back-up.
Strikers - Ben Burgess - not free, but under 200k. strong, with a good jump, and a good header of the ball. hat-tricks in two games pre-season. looks very promising! 26 years old.
Kevin Kyle - 120k. cheap, but with fantastic physical and mental attributes, well worth buying. poor technically (even finishing is only 12), but he's there for his heading ability. and at 6ft 3, he wins alot of those.
Robbie Fowler - good techincally, but poor physically. available on a free from blackburn. still worth a look, but his best years are passed him.
Enoch Showunmi - available on a free from leeds united. i like him on the bench, 'cause he's 6ft 5, with 16 for jump, so he can cover for your big striker. yet, he's also got 14s for PACE and STR, and a 12 for dribbling, to cover for the little/quick guy. scores a few goals on the '08 version with similar stats, so i'm happy to get him again.
i've signed all of them for Burnley, so they will go to any championship team. perhaps some of them will go a couple of leagues lower, too! xD

Guilherme exist in mine too and is the best striker of Inter right now. I am at 2017. I set the database as large.
i know this guy is about 30 but he has phenominal stats; set pieces and brilliant and finishing awsome

KIKI Musampa is a good choice for almoust every championship team. Good skils.

I've been managing shrewsbury for 2.5 seasons now and was run away winner of league 2 first season playing 4-1-3-2 I've not had money any season so have been taking frees and loans. Season 1's successes were sergio Diaz can play cb or lb. Awsome player good for championship let alone league2 shane candsell-sherriff free from tranmere played dmv for me season one but is a good cb also. Jon altuna can play dm or rm. I also took delfounseo on loan from villa and Keith treacy from blackburn. There's a guy I picked up season 3 he has playing in Egypt and is an international I think his name is abd. He plays in dm am or ok so should be easy to find. I picked him up for free wages c£4k but he's brilliant. Coach with best assessment stats says he's good for prem. I'm playing him as dm and with rocket long shot scored 5 in his first 3 from dm!!! Has tailed off but still he's immence

Yurchenko - starts quite good at 19, becomes top premiership striker. scored 30 for my spurs team in 2012. You may have to pay a couple of mil though.
Ochirosii - Becomes a leading premiership left winger, available cheap at the start of the game.
Fabian Delph, available for a pittance at the start, was worth 17.5 million by 2013.
carini is a good cheap gk for lower division team. i bought him for 170k
and also some good free players

CM: Anderson, Diego, Paul Scholes(plays well togheter, and especially Anderson grows quickly and he is a top class midfielder, both of them has good technique, passes and dribbles and much more, they are class)
AML: Nani, Angel Di Maria, Ryan Giggs and Georginio Wijnaldum (Wijnaldum can play as CM, AML and AMR)
AMR: Cristiano Ronaldo(world's best player)
Strikers: Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Dimitar Berbatov, Keirrison(wonderkid)and Fraizer Campbell.
As you see I have sold many of my regular players and bought many young players and wonderkids. But I still have Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Edwin Van Der Sar is on my reserve team now.

Kikin Fonseca is a good goalscorer.scored 26 goals in my first season
fonseca isnt free btw but you can get him very cheaply.i got him for 1.5 mill
Bale From Celtic but bid in at 0 and celtic always actcept the bid sold at the back got me in to the premire legue with QPR Also Grahme Smith From Rangers Gk u get him for free, The two best young strikers for me is Walter from Internacional you get him for like 2mill And Jozy Altidore from villarreal hes always on the transfer list you get him for 2.5mill i sold Altidore for 35mill in my third year also a great midfilder is Celso Borges you get him for 200k sold him in the third year for 25mill

Gary Glens ratings arent specttacular but for some reason he turns great, Man city bought him a few years into my game for 21 million. you can buy him a million.
Funso Ojo from PSV is a great talent. price varies.
My Favourite player so far is Marquinhos the brazilian right winger, they wouldnt negotiate though so i had to pay an excessive 17.5 million. Im Everton by the way.
Daniel Opare is a good free transfer after a season has passed.
Scott Sinclair was a bargain at 3 million. Now worth 9 in the 2nd season.
Daniel Stirridge another great free transfer after a season.

Denis Vasin - 19 year old Ukrainian Foward who i bought from Chornomorets (Ukraine) for £1k for Derby County. Although i have only just started the season (played 9 games) he has scored 7 goals in 6 games!!! And his wages are only £350!!
Vasin would be a very good player for any championship side, amazing for league 1 or 2. Not sure how he would perform in Premier League but he's still only 19, so we will get even better! I think that he is a real bargain and worth a look at.
Mistake, he name is Denys Vasin not Denis Vasin! Also bought Mascio from Cisco, very gd player. played cup game against chester and got 4 assists (we won 5-0), also got 1 assist in 2 league games, which ain't bad for a 17 year old. I no this is supposed to be about free transfers but Mascio might as well have been, only costing me £30k. He's on loan at Brentford now to get match experience, and his valued has already gone to £200k

Max Gradel (Winger) of Leicester is a very good player. I had him for my leicester team in League one, he was star player and sold him to Bordeaux at the end of the first season for £6.5.
I tried 2 starts with leicester and he awsome both times.

he's 17 and swedish get him on a free transfer, he doesnt have amazinf stats but after the second season towards the end you make a profit of about 20mil if you offer to clubs. man city bought him, i got this guy for swansea city and hes a striker he bagged loads of goals for me 48 goals in championship season and got young player of the year, but its just the waiting around for the improvement

Andre Schembri from Malta good FC. He is good for championship teams and still very young :D
I am Mansfield and am in my 6th season, just had my first in the Premiership. Sam Hewson is my captain and CM from Man United, he is a good player even though i don't know if he is going to continue to be able to play at the very top. I have Fellah from Valarenga upfront with a regen from FC. Twente called Sonny Berger. He has 20 heading, pace, finishing, decisions, acceleration and strength, and has scored 17 goals in his 8 games for me. I love regens :)
got ronaldo in my second season for newcastle, put him on pretty light training and brought him on in alot of games for impact and he got 15 league goals with 4 starts and 19 sub apperances
was pretty delighted got me to 6th
also signed aguero for 45million..... was excellent for me but also was my downfall
hi there, just like to add i was manager of AFC wimbledon, and in my first season i wanted someone with alot of experience, so i sacked my assistant manager and signed Jean-Pierre papin as my assistant manger but also as a player, he's like 40 something but was my top scorer with 26 goals, i took them to the championship and he kept playing untill league one!
have tried some of the players mentioned at PAOK (Greece). Not many sign but the following came and done well:
lewandowski - amazing player, plays better as a second attacker.
kallon - covered 3 positions, 2nd attaker, amr and amc.
Matias Lequi - great defender and even though he is slow he covers both dl and dc.
appiah - one of the best dmc, mc ever.
Daniel Bilos - amazing aml. inreplacable.
EDUARDO COSTA - is excellent dmc, mc, amc.
diego tristan - value for money. will score lots.
Ugur yildrim - nothing to say about this guy, runs midfield.
Marius Jianu - good cheap young forward.
hugo viana is good too
robert lewandowski...very good striker and vrey cheap..i buy him from lench and in my team olympiacos scores every match i give..
Hey... Can you get me the history of Kenwyn Jones? Like who he signs for, goals scored and stuff for the next few years?
He always seems to do well against my team and had 10 goals from 18 games which is great for his stats.
How come there's no 'Best Buys' list? It seems most people start with big teams with significant transfer budgets.
For a relatively small team with say up to £6mil transfer budget, 'Best Buys' would be a wonderful list.

Im starting off with Shrewsbury in the second division, so money is tight, so can anyone recommend some class players for the first few season that are likely to come to a lower league team.

hi i am playing on patch 9.3 and i have been looking for some good players when i came across a well known striker or even attacking midfielder his name is Darren Huckerby ex norwich forward he is amazing and has an immense cross and the best thing is he is free!!! i segned him with doncaster rovers so maybe he will come to some league 1 sides i dont know

also mata from valencia bought him in secon season for 4 mil and sold in 3rd for 14 mil.
walcott is worth 32 mil and just bought lescott from chelsea for a mere 4.9 mil. currently top of league as well
