HullAwful start by Hull. Is Mission Impossible?
Hello all! Today I’m going to share news about my results with Hull. Well, the Hull story has started with poor results. During the first 11 matches we managed to gain only 2 points!!! 
Hull Results
Looks terrible as for me. I have never been in such poor situation before (managing clubs in the previous versions of Football Manager series). But anyway if one watched all the matches of Hull, he would say that the amount of gained points is unfair here.
Looking to the scores of the played games you can see that Hull haven’t lost any game with difference of scored and missed goals more than 2. Analyzing this fact, performance and playing style of my team I can say that I have certain hopes of avoiding relegation. Therefore I’m not collapsing. I will explain the reasons of my optimism in the end of this message

By the way, interesting fact: two matches in the League Cup (against Crewe and Stoke) ended with penalty series. Both were won by Hull! 
Hull Players
I’m absolutely convinced that Hull and Stoke have the most weak squads in the Premier League. The one of Hull is even a bit weaker. And this is confirmed by Football Manager 2009 engine making Media Prediction of 20th position. I tried to reinforce the squad buying several players.
Players In
The bad thing here is that I wanted much Victor Moses . Actually, it’s not so bad but it’s a kind of whim that doesn’t help in avoiding relegation in the first season. Victor Moses is young and very prospective but not very competitive at the moment. That’s it. He cost me 65% of whole my transfer budget .
Other bought players became “The Tigres” just because team had needed some squad depth. No hidden stars here. Actually, only creative midfielder Ricardo Fernandes is the only first squad player in this list.
I know I could perform on a transfer marked much better but I was somewhat rushing to play matches and look at the changes of Football Manager 2009 engine!
Player Out
Best performing players
It was common for my previous reports of Southampton, Wigan, Arsenal stories when I post statistics of the best performing players of the team I manage. Here it comes again:
One can see here that defenders Kamil Zayatte, Bernard Mendy and Michael Turner have been making the most stable performance. And the most weak part of the team is forwards. There are no any of them in this list because they almost don’t score goals.
Optimistic Conclusion
I have several reasons to be optimistic in the situation when the club gained only 2 points in 11 matches of Premier League Championship:
- Stable defence. Though there was one serious problem linked with weak players on the left flank (Ricketts and Dawson) – too many danger and, as a result, goals from that flank. It was resolved in the 10th fixture of PL by moving Zayatte from DC to DL position.
- Tactics tuning is coming to the end. I’m started with 4-3-2-1 having 2 AMCs. But after 10 games of low effectiveness in attack I moved one of AMC to FC position. So now it’s 4-3-1-2. I will provide more details about my tactics when its tune up ends and if it becomes more or less successful.
- Hardest games are played. Ye, we have already played with Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham. More easy opponents are ahead in the first half of the season.
- Forwards. I will seek for a good combination of two forwards. I have some hopes on Marlon King who has been injured since the very beginning of the season and returning in the next match.
- Team has too many new players. And these players are getting used to each other. So it will be better interaction between them soon.
So what do you think now? Is the mission of avoiding relegation impossible for my football club? 
P.S. I got used to use Zoomed Vertical camera for 3D view. It’s the best as for me!

Hello Vitaley i have been following your porogress since last year and would like to congratulate you.:D!I ahve signed some players like:Brian Easton from Hamilton,Bosko Balaban from Dinamo and Adriano Basso from Bristol and all of these cost me only 3 million.Do you know any players at cheap prices for good teams like Liverpool FC.Best of luck.

I wish you a big luck with Hull because i think that it is very hard to live in premiere league in fm09. This is only game and you must have pretty good team to avoi relegation. Good luck trying :)

I also see some prostpects, not losing majorly against teams that could and should have done that. I think you will be able to avoid regalation...
Don't worry. I went as Hull on demo and finished 16th!!! IF tou sty up you can build up your team. Good Luck!!!
hi, im playing as Hull City too and although I'm only on the 24th September, Hull lie in 5th, the reason for this is two top signings, the 19yo Keirrison from Cortiba, although I had to sell a few players so I could have some money left over, he was worth it and is set to become an amazing striker. My other good singing was Tim Kurl from Newcastle, which effectivly blew my remaning transfer money, I also signed Udinese's Victor Boundianski for 50,000. And lastly Loic Nestor for 400,000. Anyway I hope that theese help in some way, if you have any money left from the first window, espically Boundianski, my scouts said that I could get it down to 45 but it was the last day of transfer window so I didnt bother. Any way best of luck in your game.

Concerning tactics I will lay out it only if when it appears to be more or less successful. So just wait some time till I test it on my weak squad :)
Just out of curiosity mate, how are newcastle possibly so high up after 11? Are you able to show us who they signed and sold?
In regards to your team, you'll be fine, a few tight games it seems.. are you attack minded, defense minded or do you counter-attack?
I'm in my first season with Newcastle, and after a good build up in the pre-season, i lost my first match to Chelsea 2-3, but won the next 4 games(Everton, Wigan, WBA, Nottingham Forrest) albeit it against easier opposition.
I won all these games by 3 goals or more (against both Everton and Nottingham the boys scored 5 goals).
However due to the impeding sale of NUFC it looks like i'll be getting the sack, in favour of Alan Curbishley of all people.
vitaliy im currently managing hull as well, played 26 games with 41 points. the only first team players i have bought are omar esparza and henrik larrson with some good youngsters including oscar sielva, vaclav kadlec and haris vuckic. Also ive employed your formations and such from your fm 2008 game and theyve seemed 2 work with me being able 2 beat man utd, arsenal while beating man city on two occasions :)

Hey Markus, in my first season at newcastle we finished 7th. when the sale of the club was going through and Bill Wright became chairman he told me he was going to replace me but would give me a chance!! Anyway they decided to keep me which was really odd because my reputation was still regional and at the time weren't doing that well.
For me you had a poor transfer market campaign,however you need a careful tactic approch playing with Hull, so try to have a well balanced tactic.
Just a note: I'm in my second season in FM 2009, managing Plymouth in my second season, the first in the premiership, first match this year I defeated Hull 1-0 away!! :-)
You will stay up if you can get some free transfers or loans in january and i think you should have a go at luton town fc, see if you could keep them up from -30
I think you should rid a few players like ashbee, dawson, myhill and others try getting these players:
GK - Josh Lambo - 600K - to be good next season.
AML - Rondeny Snejider - Loan - great young winger.
AMLR - Fredrik Ljunberg - 20K
DC - Glauber - Loan - very good defender.
DL - Emilliano Insua - Loan - speedy left back

I used defensive tactics but after the first 10 matches I changed it to more effective one with counter-attacks. I have been creating new tactics from the very beginning.
Concerning Newcastle - they defend very effectively! 3 defenders and goalkeeper have the most high ratings in the team

no, I'm not happy with Zenyov. He is very quick but having awful shot accuracy. I tried him in 4-5 matches... At the moment Zenyov is in the reserve squad :)

you are right about transfer campaign, of course. I hope to do better during the winter transfer window :)
vitaly u need to carry on and encourage ur players during away games. Keep their morale up and in summer sign a goalscorer who can't do anything but score gls like Robbie fowler also try sign rivaldo.f
Well, I realized that the game has a bug or something which makes it hard to score lots of goals with your strikers. Im using liverpool and my top scorer is not torres but Kyut with 14 premier league goals at the end of the season having majority of them from penalties. The top scorer of the season actually had only 17 goals and kyut actually has the 3rd highest record in the season!!!
and arsenal, looks very strong in FM2009. in a few games (include you and my friends game) all arsenal leading with great not losing any games.
Guys,i just play the game n i found that my "go on holiday" feature isn't working. I also found that players' statistics are also error.(Kaka is the weakest link in Milan)
Any of you encounter this prob?

Maybe signing moses wasnt the best choice to keep Hull up, but you should turn it around!
Im playing with arsenal, 4th the 1st two seasons, started playing 4-2-4, then 4-3-1-2, and now playing a slight variation of the 4-4-2 attacking formation! My team just doesnt score much, 1.6 goals a game, (less in the league) In other FMs ive had it as high as 3.1! But my defence is good, 12 goals in 26 games conceded! Forwards seem to struggle!

im also playing with hull coincidentally. played 12 won 2 and drawn 1. last place, too. but - just played man u and was 1-1 into injury time, only for a 93rd minute penalty to sink me. so harsh. a point against the top of the table would have buoyed me no end. instead i feel like an australian side at the world cup. this game is cruel.
Yes, Arsenal is too strong, I agree. Though I'm Arsenal fan, pay attention :)

"go on holiday" feature isn't working for cracked versions of the game.

may be the game is cruel but very interesting and proposes a lot of challenges!
I don't think it's how well you manage. In FM2009 you can't play 4-3-3 anymore with the new arrow system, your wingers are pretty much just strikers and never have any real passing connection with midfielders. Most of my games are 1-0, 1-1 or at most 2-1.
Even when I play a top team like Manchester or Barcelona, my team never wins the possession battle and I get 2-3 shots on goal per game. I haven't reached the point to where I'm enjoying the game yet, I think I'm gonna give it another go and then probably go back to FM2008.

good choice in signing victor moses... On football manager 2008 wen i was wiv altrincham in championship he scored 35 goals in 32 games.

I play with fulham currently 3rd 14 points after 7 games (god knows) managed a draw a goaless draw at anfield but i recommend on demo sign Sebastien Abreau (Uruguayian international free, Derek Boateng 400k tough midfielder, Vincent Enyeama 325k, i also signed Nicolas Sanchez off river 725k good stats for defender, Leonardo 1.2 million off ajax and Razvan Rat for 2.5 million from Shaktar, i raised a lot of these funds off selling clint dempsey to stoke for 4.5 million and danny murphy wigan for 1.5

I am currently on course to win the league with Newcastle in my first season. Got a 2 point lead, just beat Chelsea at home and have Liverpool and Arsenal left at home, already beaten both away this season. Brought Thiago Silva (Brazilian DC, DM) my only signing 5.25 mil, had to sell Smith to fund it though.
Playing 4-3-1-2 scoring at least 2 a game, takes a while though for your team to adapt to a formation - but I once they do I reckon that FM 09 is easier than 08 on this evidence.
Has Anyone Noticed Arsenal Is A Little Bit Overrated In FM 09, In My Second Season With Man Utd They Are First With No Less Than 13 Pts Ahead Of My Squad,And I'm In Second Place, Aftes Firs 25 Games, Having 20 wins, 6 Ties, And Without A Loss... Last Season I Was A Champion With 83 Points... :(
But Last Season Everybody Could Win Everybody, This Season It Is The Case, Just Arsenal Is Unvincible...
And Just To Say My Strikers Ronney, Tevez, And Berbatov Can't Score More Than 25 Goals All Together In One Season...

Arsenal Have A Good squad With Perspective, But Walcott And Vela And Bendtner Are Unrealistically Awesome... And YOu Would Expect Such A YOung Team To Have Rise And Falls But Their Form Is Flawless, From September To March... Unbelievable...

I'm also Hull and I have 11 points from 1st ten games. I'm 15th. I have beaten Tottenham, Boro and Stoke, I've drawn to Sunderland and Everton and I've lost to Bolton, Fulham, West Ham, Villa, Man U. I'm in the 4th round of the League Cup against Villa. I've made what i think are good signings in Fredrik Ljungberg (Free), Matias Lequi ( Free), Thomas Gravesen ( Free), Stephen Carr ( Free) and Ludovic Magnin (1.5m). I've sold Wayne Brown ( 500k), Ian Ashbee ( 500k), Andy Dawson (400k) and i've put featherstone out on loan to Dag & Red. I've released about 5 players including dean Windass and John Welsh

am im my third season with man city, ive been buidling my team on a brazlian based squad ive signed tiago heleno, oscar, neymar, hernanes, adriano from inter bargain got him 4 8 million, also have jo and robinhno still in my squard, wright-phillips an ireland as the usall players like richards an kompany have been amazin, i was poor in my first season by jus missing out on europe defeat on the last day cost me big dropted me two places from 6th to 8th, second season things wer looking up, and a second half to the season was amazin form ended up goin on a 22 match unbeatin wrecked tht ended up finishn in 2nd place ;) start of the 3rd season an ive jus played my 1st 3 games an have won them all 1-0 sitting top of the league lets hope it stays that way......
