Southampton became Vice-Champion of Premier League

The second position in the Premiership is the great achievement for such club as Southampton. Especially, if you recollect that we were media predicted to become 12th.

The last three matches were all difficult and unpredictable

My guys managed to gain the victory over Liverpool loosing 1:2 during the game. Thanks to hat-trick hero and our new star-forward - Jelle Vossen. Then there was the equal game with The Red Devils: we opened the score, Rooney made it equal and on the last minutes Massimo Donati could tear out victory but the ball after his average distance strike got at the post. In the last one with Aston Villa we got defeated having a lot more goal moments than opponent. Unfortunately. Though Southampton almost hadn't chances of getting the title and became the 2nd after The Red Devils as a result.

Frankly speaking, I'm proud of the result and going to set up new target for the next season - the title of Premier League! And, of course, I'm looking forward to the start of Southampton in the Champions League Cowboy

Some information about the players

On the finish of the season Southampton players had the following stats:

Player stats of Southampton

The best forward of the team is Jelle Vossen - one of the best scorers in Premier League:

The best defender is Fazio who scored a lot of goals with his head during corners and freekicks. Perhaps he is the biggest surprise of the season for me as club manager!

And the best midfielder and MVP is Massimo Donati with the highest amount of assists in the Premiership:

    Guys, thank you for congratulations!

Of course, it will be pretty challenge for my Southampton to compete in the Champions League. Well, we will see...

At first I need to buy few players strengthening my squad

  7. paine Says:

If I can give you an advice, you should buy some experienced players with high influence and lots of international matches played.
    This could help you.

  8. Ethan MacManus Says:

Well done. Even though you didn't win the league, it's always nice to qualify for CL automatically. And you can always try again next season, with better players. Good luck as always.

  9. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    paine, thanks
This is good advice I usually like to follow this principle.

    Ethan MacManus,
yep, and thinking about FM 2009 I can say that the next season can be the last one for my Southampton in FM 2008.
Because when FM 2009 demo is released I will start playing for the team that wins in the poll on my blog (seems like it's going to be Premier League debutant - Hull City :) )

  11. paine Says:

Another unasked advice from me, don't give up your travel with Southampton until you'll win everything.
It's a brilliant career game, first of all it's believable, not like so many posts in some forums with hypes like "Won Premiership with Wigan in my first season..."

    Reconsider it.
