HullSouthampton: Before start in Premier League. Making transfers
Dramatic promotion of my Southampton to Premier League obliges to fight for higher achievements in the upcoming season. So I decided to choose "Avoid relegation" season expectations instead of "Attempt to avoid relegation" option.
The club board gave almost 31.5 million of bucks to spend on transfers for that. And I was happy with that sum of money because my current squad had been the most weak comparing with other Premier League teams definitely.
Therefore I spent much time exploring and scouting football clubs and national teams... I decided to buy very different types of players in all lines expect goalkeepers. What's interesting I bought some of the players using your advices, my dear readers, in the comments of this post and this one. Among them young Niklas Barkroth, Georginio Wijnaldum, Lauri Dalla Valle, Miralem Pjanic. All the transfers has taken almost all my transfer money:
The most important purchase is Aaron Mokoena whom I set to become a new captain of Southampton. He has very high values of Influence, Teamwork, Determination, Bravery, Work Rate which are important for every captain. Another his good singularity is versatility - Aaron can play either in the center of defence or in the center of midfield.
And I would like also to single out Georginio Wijnaldum from Feyenoord. He is the most prospective player of all purchased. Only 18 years old guy having very good abilities and characteristics. Potentially he can grow in a real star - there was information about his development during trainings.
All transfers allowed me to add some squad deepness and strength. But frankly speaking my team (comparing all players together) is not stronger than any other team in Premier League. But at least it's not the most weak :) So the hard battle for avoiding relegation waits for Southampton. Go, Saints!!!

ey vitaley, I just finished season 4 with my Man City and giogino has grown fantasticly! On loan though. Good to see you used the info given and shared by your readers. I see you loaned Pichu Atienza, he makes a lot of stupid mistakes by time, so give him the rest he needs once in a while. Also, look at michele Rigione, master DC making almost no mistakes in the back, that would be a top transfer. Meanwhile I resigned as Man City manager and looking for a new team to coach, good luck in the premier league, you'll need it.
Last but not least, Jao Carlos and Dean Bouzanis are top keepers, try loaning them or even buying, also Costill is a top transfer (good keeper is essiental imo)

Great to see you did buy Rigione too! (was it on my tip?) Ive just checked out Mamadou Sakho, and he's a very good DC at Paris Saint Germain in my save game, 5th season. I have made the step to Leeds (kinda got bored with man city, got players that in my opinion where getting too good and had loads of transfer money, I needed a challenge again) If you can, indeed snatch up Mauro Zaraté, Everton have him in my save game and he was somewhere in the top three goal scorers last season (season 4)

Auw at Ashley Young! Had the same problem with Gelson Fernandes and Diego (werder bremen Diego, snatched him up in a free transfer) last season, gelson being out for 2 months and diego for 3.

is this in the normal FM 08 or in the update?
I think its because its his third (or second, sorry if im wrong) season, he had a season before to build this up AND he got promoted to the premier league?

That's really because it's the 3rd season in the game.
I use FM 2008 Patch 8.0.2 without any other updates.
And the sum of transfer money was also increased by some $5M when I selected 'Avoid from relegation' expectation instead of 'Attempt to avoid from relegation'.
But still, that means if ud selected winner you could have had up to 50 million?
How did u make so much money? And what is the balance?
(im not trying to suggest uve cheated, cos i have made more than that amount with small clubs but only from selling a lot of players..)
Ye, around 50-55 millions as far as I remember. How it's happened - may be because of progress of my team and cheap players who plays rather well.
What's interesting, the current balance is near 7 million dollars. And the Board is "slightly concerned about balance" now :-)
