Hopefully, in half of year we all will see and play the new version of FM series - FM 2009. May be it is to early to talk about expected new features but I would like to :) So, the list of features I would recommend Sports Interactive to produce is:

• Add some new interesting team and player instructions that will add more tactical diversity.

• Get license for national team of Germany :)

• Getting wider player statistics after match.

• More possibilities to spend the club money (training camps, club facilities...)

• Possibilities to do anything with money your earn as manager. For now salary gives nothing to a FM player.

• More options in player interaction and media talks.

i would like to add the fact you can only manage the league's in three pre-chosen country's. You should be able to choose from any offer you get in any country in the world.

  2. Anonymous Says:

    hey ..
the man city guy again ..
u can post ur ideas in http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32990

  3. Anonymous Says:

    To vincent.

2 things if you could pick from any offer from any country club there would be to much data and crap for the game to handle and will take ages and ages to load and save.
and also you can pick all the leagues if u realy wanted to, when you set up your game you can click on all the countrys if you realy wanted to. but like i said before it will take ages to load and save. lol (i did it in one of my games ==" it took ages to save it and load it and it would always freeze and crap) lol

  4. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

Thank you, Man City guy. But there is some problem with TotalFootballForums.com in a registration. Validation email message doesn't come to my mail account.

If you want you can add my ideas on their forum but only with link on this blog post.

  5. Ozan Erdoğan Says:

-The true football manager did you tried delete some fake files and boom you have germany :)
-BTW selecting all leagues is not all that scary I'm playing that way. In job screen and some other screens work slow but thats all.
-I was selected guam national team with using "retain nations player" file.

  6. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    To Ozan Erdoğan:

Sure, I did :) But it's not really fair anyway :)

  7. lloyd Says:

I would like to see us be able to do more with the finances... i.e set ticket prices, arrange sponsor deals, choose number of season tickets for sale, set the price of stadium boxes etc. could then generate more revenue

  8. boney Says:

    hi, my name is boney

i rekon you should be able to spend your own money (the managers money) so there should be a page you can go on which is titled sumthin like 'my finances'

also you should be able to pick your own favourite people and teams (not just 1 fave team)

You should also be able to introduce your own son into a youth academy somewhere as a player.

    cheerz,
    boney

  9. Vincent Says:

    to boney,

ive read somewhere that someone has found his own son (read: own last name, and its not an standard one) in one of the youth acedemy's in one of the teams he trained.... or I totally misunderstood that.

  10. Marc Freer Says:

Lets not forget this is football MANAGER... We need realism, setting ticket prices and organising sponsorship is not the managers job.

    1. Id like better media interaction, building a good or bad raport with the media which should effect fan confidence etc.

    2. More international pressure's or less depending on the nation (england would have more expectation than finland). More pressure to select certain players or play certain formations.

    3. Chairman interaction (italy and spain etc. club owners signing big names with little or no input from you). Meetings with your chairman

    4. More media scandals (players involved in fights at nightclubs, drink driving, players questioned by police)

All in all I think football manager hasn't developed the intensity of management as much as it has stats and gameplay. STill would marry football manager if it was socially exceptable

  11. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Mark, I agree with you.
These social features you enumerated would add diversity and realizm to the game.

But it wouldn't be good if you, lets say, have an adventurous player who broke the law and got to a jail... And then you miss him because he has been in the jail for 6 months or more.

For such cases realizm is not needed, I think. Therefore it would be enough to decrease his morale level only to Very Poor without missing games.

I love football manager 2008, the only a few things that need changing or maybe putting on 09,
Player mangers would be sonething good to do, on the start screen when u start as a manger and u put your pic on then maybe there should be a option saying be a player manger and u can put in your stats but there be a limit so u dont make yourself amazing and as u play your play gets better.
when a manger says " we are going to beat u" the game should be able to know what u put on if you use your own words insted of what the games says u have to put, same with player interation,
if u like what i have put or feel i went on let me know
    my e mail is yummymummy2306@aol.co.uk.

  13. Anonymous Says:

What we need is specific player tactics saved to each individual player not position. You might have 3 players with very good long shots say a mid center a right winger and a striker. That doesn't mean you want every player who plays on your right wing to start smashing the ball from 30 yards! Only those particular players should have the option ticked. Its too much bother to change the settings for every match.

  14. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

The last one idea is very good! I support it completely!

  15. Christopher Sennan Says:

I think si should focus on more fix than more feature. more realism match engine, more realism transfer, more realism training day ( u can watch and train, to find the best tactic for example).

  16. Anonymous Says:

i think the idea about speding ur own money is great.
maybe u culd buy a small club while managing a big club
Any1 think dis is a gd idea?

  17. Anonymous Says:

i hope i can use japan n the future.....

  18. Anonymous Says:

I have a very good idea,
    PREPARED PLAYS
It would be great, and in real football, most teams prepare them.

  19. niff23 Says:

i would like to be able to create training ground moves from set plays etc and then see the in action on the pitch.

  20. Anonymous Says:

I think additional things like training camps would be good and better interaction between feeder and parent clubs. Links are great but interaction between the 2.

Also more interaction between chairman or football of director to discuss ideas or put forward ideas. Perhaps able to put forward your own plans for the club?

More interaction with media with more answer choices rather than the same ones every time.

Also a fans meeting perhaps, where you meet supporters spokesman, etc

Additional features such as christmas parties, spotting 7 - 8 year olds and signing them on for development, drug screening, etc would be good.

  21. Anonymous Says:

I think that you should be able to become a chairman of a club and able to choose how much money you start with.

    SainT

  22. Anonymous Says:

    Wouldnt it be great if,

at the end of a match a news screen came up, like sky sports news, with presenters showing the highlights, and scores from other matches, and football general news transfers, injuries etc. and the choice of looking at newspapers, to see the reaction of the media to your teams performance. i think this would make the game more realistic and exciting to see how your performance is being viewed, and i also think that although when the fa cup, league cup etc is being drawn we all skip it but it would be great for a live video to be added to show the draw. and reaction to the draws. also i think that the atmosphere in 2009 games should be more intensifying, with the real club songs being sung by fans, like european nights, the atmoshpere should be electric, and maybe being 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go and your teams putting passes together the crowd should go "whayy ,whayy, whayy" when the ball reaches a teammate. also a good thing could be a choice of hearing commentary, maybe sky sports joining up with football manager. Just need new ideas to make this game more realistic and different than the last few FM's. i think scouting shout also be better, saying which players they reccomend is all well and good but, we need to know what they are going to offer to our team, finishing?, pace?, crossing?, tackling? etc. and also at the end of a season have the option to scrap the league you are in and be able to pick another country to manage in. i would like to hear from fellow fm gamers to see if they agree with or disagree with my ideas.
    Thanks James

  23. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    James,
I think your ideas sound good. Supported :)

  24. Anonymous Says:

i think you should talk with your players during the game, not only at half-time and when the game finishes. the ideia to spend your own money is great. you earn lots of money with big contracts but you can't do a thing with it.

  25. Anonymous Says:

It would be pretty good if you could buy a club with your earnings, also i think being able to choose a new kit or sponsorship deal would be class, they should also let u design your own stadium or choose the amount u increase the capacity in.

  26. Anonymous Says:

So basically make football manager like Total Club Manager yeah? You can do all whats been mentioned in that anyway.

  27. Anonymous Says:

I would like a difficulty setting -Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard or going on experience - Novice . . . you get the picture. Anyone else agree?

  28. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

I disagree about difficulty setting. Football Manager emulates football life and there should be only one difficulty level - the one that simulates reality.

Imagine I play Novice level managing Levski (football club from Bulgaria). In that I have chance to see, lets say, Levski winning Champions League in the first season of the game!!
    That's not real!!

  29. Anonymous Says:

I think that you should go down lower leauges in england

and that you can create 1 player and choose it to ur fav club

  30. Anonymous Says:

i think that yu should be able 2 be the chairman as well and then decide stadium +training upgrades, hiring and firing managers, sponerships, food+ ticket prices, manager meetings, buy players for your club whether the manager likes it or not. I think that would make a relli good change just to give something else to think about. wat do u fink?

  31. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

Sounds good, but for the other hand this doesn't correspond to reality.

If you want to manage team, you are football manager. And you cannot make such financial decisions of chairman.
If you are chairman, then you cannot manage team.

Realism of Football Manager is very important as for me.

  32. Anonymous Says:

I feel that the match day graphics are appualing tbh, i love the game but im disapointed seeing these littles balls running around the screen, i would like that to be more realistic, i dont now if sports interactive could make that happen but if its a possibility id love to see it happen.

  33. james Says:

Option to be assistant manager with the manager asking u about stuff like players form etc.
    Better interaction with media
Sky sports news wud be brilliant.
chairman option be cool yet then again it wouldn't really belong in a game called football manager

  34. james Says:

oh and there's just one thing that's really bad with football manager-being unable to properly organize set plays

  35. Anonymous Says:

i think that there shud b a ternum on toast feature. im a celtic fan. hail hail

  36. Mike Says:

i think that they should sort out the job section because unless you filter it you get things like aldershot need a scout but as you cant be a scout can be annoying.

  37. Anonymous Says:

i think that you should be able to have any job, like a scout/ chairman or many jobs, and maybe use your money earned to buy a club if you want etc, and i think it should be more detailed media meetings, like an interactive past match conference and introducing new palyers, like the reporters ask you questions and you choose from an array of answers and not just 5, and the answers suit your personality, like a wenger style manager, fergie or a mourinho, like with mourinho you only have answers that do not belittle your team, like "the better team lost". but i think you should be given a random starting job, scout etc, master it and attempt to be a coach and that. anyone agree?

  38. Davy C Says:

I think the idea of being able 2 expand ur staduim or add new facilities to the stadium is a great idea for example if you are a small club it would be much better if you were able to expand you staduim when you want and improve the training ground

  39. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    davy c,
I support you with this feature.

    Anonymous,
I like your idea about "arrays of answers" and, actually, more detailed media interaction.
But being scout or coach is not interesting as for me. Just because its "Football Manager" game not "Football Scout" one :)

  40. Anonymous Says:

All the things mentioned are great but i think that the new features tha t will move the game to the next level are:
1 - Improved game engine, the game engine is the same since FM 2006.
2 - More options for game tactics for Team and each player.
    3 - Better media features

  41. Anonymous Says:

What about the red card appeals?? i mean wtf?! ive played this game for so long and i have never won an appeal..

  42. Anonymous Says:

    hi
I think it would be a great idea if you spent your own wages on various visual stuff like skins etc

  43. Anonymous Says:

o and i would like to see facilities have their own menu and you can extend or improve e.g youth system

  44. matt-standerwick Says:

I would like a message after every training instead of each month and informing you how your players felt about the training and a report that tells you who did well and who didnt, this way you could perfect your training, well... almost

I would like to set my ticket prices and do my own sponsors maybe not the managers job and much realism but a way to gain money if not there has gotta be a way of getting general revenue each month or week maybe bonuses for win and so on...

instead of just the standard skin i would like to see a choice given to you that way no1 can complain about the skin :D

i think the next 1 shouldnt have as many goals dissallowed like once a month with most teams that to be ounest not realistic

e-mail me on matt15_@hotmail.co.uk to see if you think the same please e-mail me :D

  45. Anonymous Says:

hey, my name is josip, i am from croatia and i think that in the new edition of fm that small clubs in small countries should have more detailed youth teams, for example some croatian clubs have youth players who are interesting to many english and italian clubs but they are not in the game, and i think that it would be more realistick to add some new injuries and illness like for example ivan klasnić sufered from kidney failiure P.S soory for my english

  46. Sullivan92 Says:

I would like to see the premierleague finally sponsored by SI and also the possibility of graphical stadiums that you can look at and build.. like LMA manager has..

also on this version u cant build a ground from scratch only expand maybe there should be that optoion on the next version.

A wider veriety of skins would be nice too.

  47. Jorge Martins Says:

I think we should receive more other clubs invitation, even if you are already managing one. I played 5 years with a medium team winning plenty trophies and I never got an invitation to manage other clubs. =/

  48. Rimi.fr Says:

    I hope involving albanian superleauge.

  49. Anonymous Says:

All this sounds great, i think a improved display aswell. New skins, strips, badges and player pictures brighten the game up a bit. I'm sick of looking at the shield badge for every premiership team.

  50. Anonymous Says:

hi i was wondering does anyone know why football manager doesn't have the licenses for the F.A Premier League?

  51. Kyriakos Says:

My name is Kyriakos from Cyprus.

First of all, I agree with marc freer's ideas especially the

2.More international pressure's or less depending on the nation (england would have more expectation than finland).
There are countries that fire managers easily and some others not. In UK for example, Rangers had only 11 coaaches in their history. However in Greece and Cyprus we can have around 50 sucking of coaches every year! This must happen and in Football Manager
3.Chairman interaction, to sign players by himself.

Also there must be more clubs invitations if you are a good manager or also invitation to other managers who succeed, especally with small clubs.

There is solution to be chosen by any team in the world. Let's say you are a coach in Austria, and your pre-chosen leagues are Germany Austria and England and a Club from Spain invites you, you must be able to reset your prechosen leagues.

We can also be able for training in other country in the summer, like most clubs do. I must be able to give my friendlies in those areas.

Also as a Cypriot I want to say my wish to see finally the Cypriot League in the Football Managers and I think I am too right to demand it. I think Cypriot League must be inculded. The players of the league are quality, there are coming players with big contract here.

There are many who play the game here and also it is better than many leagues that are included in FM, such as Belarus, Iceland, Wales, the two Irelands and most of the countries in Asia that are included in the game. Also is similar level with Slovenian and Slovakian, may be even better.

Also while I play the FM, the Cypriot teams are weaker in Europe, than they are in reality. I believe the teams must be stronger.

  52. Anonymous Says:

get all the badges right for the premier league like man utd

  53. Anonymous Says:

agree with gettng the licenses for the prem. would be nice to have the prem players pictures up.

also- is it just me or is it most times you have a corner, your team commits a foul. I no longer celebrate when my team 'score' from a corner anymore cos its always a foul.

    Disheartened Watford Fan

  54. Sullivan92 Says:

I agree with the Watford fan, from corners you always have your goals disallowed by a foul and it seems that every time a team scores against you it is dubious, this also anoys me.

To be honest i thought that 2008 was a dissapointment and 2007 is by far the best FM produced.

The skin is better from previous FM's and overall they wehere just better.

    Jack, Millwall Fan.

  55. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says:

    Watford fan,
my condolences with playoff matches with Hull City.

As for the corners, it seems amount of fouls became lower after patch 8.0.2

  56. Anonymous Says:

I'd love it if the money you made as manager you could by a football club with and go beyond managing.

  57. Anonymous Says:

It would be nice if you could have player personalities. Say you may have a troublesome young player you have to take aside and look after. Or one who needs reassurance.

Then I would make Scouting more than getting back a comment and numbers.

Also if they could get the real players to be updated to match their current form that would be good. Then if you watch a player in a match and like them in real life you could buy them and if they become big in real life, they could become big in the game. Makes it more realistic.

  58. Anonymous Says:

Maybe put the matches in 3D like EA have for Fifa manager 08??? Also try to get license for premier league for kits badges and facepacks??

  59. Anonymous Says:

A chairman mode may be a good idea. As an extra you can be a chairman and buy and run a club from a different perspective. Maybe make Chairman 2009 and sell it separately.

  60. Anonymous Says:

Hi my name is Adnan and im from Bosnia

I would like to add Bosnian Premier League.I Want to play with Željezničar

We Have good players like:Edin Džeko,Sergej Barbarez,Hasan Salihamiđić,Zvjezdan Misimović,Saša Papac, but in Bosnian football work bad peoples.

  61. Anonymous Says:

    hey,
i agree that it would be good for a chairman mode to be in the game.
Also if players and yourself to buy out their contracts.

  62. MetalElf0 Says:

I think that adding an option to include extra-football facts would be great, as they actually impact a lot on football. Just think about Adriano's and Ronaldo's parties, Cassano's famous "Cassanate", not mentioning english players having trouble with law and getting drunk in pubs.
I read somebody wrote these things have nothing to do with football: but if you speak about realism, do you think that players in the game behave similar to players in reality? When Cassano was loaned by Sampdoria, many italian ppl thought it would have caused many problems; and the Sampdoria manager had to decide if signing the player or not. Then Cassano played well and helped Sampdoria to get an amazing position in Serie A, but sometimes he misbehaved and got sent off.
So I think that players with difficult personality should be marked and maybe cause random facts, but the manager could have the chance to help them and as he gets into their favours they can become less difficult to handle. Don't you agree?

  63. Anonymous Says:

the people who think that you should be a chairman are stupid. its called football MANAGER. I rekon spending the managers salarie is a good idea and the idea of more options when expanding stadium is quality!!!

I also think that you should be able to put more/better options across to the board.

  64. Anonymous Says:

I THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE BETTER TEAM TACTICS AVAILABLE FROM SET PLAYS.

IT WOULD ALSO BE GOOD IF THERE COULD BE SOME KIND OF SPECIAL BUILD UP TO CUP FINALS.... THE BUILD UP TO EVERYGAME SEEMS TO BE THE SAME.

  65. Anonymous Says:

    INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE= QUALITY IDEA !!!!!

  66. Anonymous Says:

alryt, i think im the new football manager that they should let you spend your money that u earn, like buy a club n make the large database easier on the smaller computers, so you can have all the league n you can manage any1 at any time.

training camps would be good, all the kits, better interactions, choose favourite personal and clubs, better team talks, make obafemi martins favourite foot left cause its left in real life, have run ins with backroom staff over future transfers, back stabbin on all that wud make it good.

  67. Anonymous Says:

1)Spending own money is good idea. maybe can spend money on charities or buy shares in club to enhance your own reputation. Also maybe can make use of the skybets odds and place bets on matches or transfer speculation.

2)would like to see how much revenue an individual player's name brings to a club through shirt sales.

3)Would like to pick my own feeder teams not just choose from the ones they give you.

4)Input how many seats you want to expand stadium by.

    5)Better options on press releases

6)Hire PR assistants to boost own/player/club reputations

7)Be able to see set plays in training modes.

  68. Anonymous Says:

I don't think you should be able to be the manager of a club and have the responsibilities of a chairman, ie stadium expansions. However there should be more interaction between the manager and the chairman. You should be able to put your suggestions forward ie expand the satdium by 7,000 seats or invest a particular sum into your youth academy.

I don't think being able to spend the money you earn, seems pointless to me and doesn't add anything to the game. However I do think that you should be paid if you are employeed as a national manager and compensation packages should be negociated if you are fired. Also a table of all manager career earnings.

Scouting could be made better, scouts suggesting that particular players would make a good partnership or players that would be unlikely to play together. Also this is another section when maybe you could discuss with the club chairman about investing in.

Also it should show more signs of the amount of money a club will have to spend in the summer. for example it has been reported sunderland will have £50,000,000 i think it was to spend in the summer, this should be shown on the club information or in a table somewhere.

You could also be able to set more assistant manager options when you go on holiday. if you could say to pick a second string team for certain games or competitions. Also tell your assistant manager how much you want him to rotate the team.

Enquiries also shouldn't be rejected as much, every player has a price.

  69. J O'C Says:

    hey, luton fan here.

first off i'd like to point out that suggestions like 'i want premier league badges' and 'i want premier league player pictures' are not really logical. these problems can be easily rectified by downloading them from a site such as sortitoutsi.net - the reason they aren't in the game by default is due to the premier league having an exclusive license with EA (the same as the german national team, and japan except japan is with konami.)

i think that in FM 2009, they should first focus on fixing flaws with 2008. the match engine needs a lot of tweaking. here are a few problems with it off the top of my head -
    - the 'keepers are too good
    - every goal you score from a corner is disallowed
    - there are far too many chances in matches

there are a few more i think but i can't think of them right now.

i do have a couple original ideas for the game though, and here they are.

you should have more interaction with the chairman, over things like stadium expansion, sponsorship, etc.

for example during the close season a message may come in saying 'we need to expand the ground, what do you recommend' and you'll have a choice of 'keep the same', 'expand a little', 'expand a lot', or 'build a new stadium'.

you should have something to do with the money you as a person earn ingame. as it is you have no motivation to earn it - for example, if i'm playing as luton and earning £3,000 a week, what motivation to i have to take man utd's offer of £30,000 a week? none. perhaps there could be a 'FM shop' in game where you could buy rewards of some sort. that'd give you some reason to earn the money.

a good idea visually would be to have a skin that changes colour, and that you can lighten and darken. this year's skin was horrible and i could not download a new skin quickly enough.

overall, if you're reading this SI, don't focus too much on adding new features. you've got it sussed. just get rid of all the bugs and i'll be happy. :)

id like to see more of the fans forming groups against you if you are doing badly and more rourmers.
better youth players coming though the system, be able to have a family and spend moeny you make as a manager on them
be able to hire more coaches and scouts.

  71. Anonymous Says:

I think being able to be chairman is a really good idea. Also having more control over the club finances e.g. ticket prices and match day income would be good, and that a detailed break down of income on the finance screen would be good.

Another idea is like other people have said; is more choice in stadium design and other club features, FM should also include pictures of stadiums and such like within the game, even if they are computer generated.

  72. Anonymous Says:

    LeicesterLad again:

Futhermore, i think things like TV interviews and radio phone in's would add more depth to the game. Also as the manager you should have the option to buy out the chairman with your own more or with you could arrange a loan from the bank so that you could buy a club.

You should also be able to re-negotiate tv money when the current contract expires, as should be able to do with sponsership.

  74. Anonymous Says:

    Hello to all!

I would like to see more interaction with the media; and more interaction with the chairman and the fans.

More licenses/team badges and player photos in more leagues would be great!

Other peoples ideas that I support are 'International pressure'
    and 'Stadium/base facillities'

    Cheers,
    Marko from Serbia

  75. Anonymous Says:

    Hey all.
I would like to see in football manager 2009, the oppurtunity to play online with your carrer team against freinds carrer teams.
This way you can battle it out with friends to see who would win.
    Thanks.

  76. Anonymous Says:

two things, yes the prepared set plays and so on, would be a great idea and would be very satisfying if one of the prepared plays worked also, does it not annoy you when if you just rest one player who normally is a regualar and play someone else and you suddenly lose 3-0, realism in the matches need to be improved

  77. Anonymous Says:

should be able to create a warm up for your team before a match

i.e. the amount of running, mental prep, shooting practice you do to prepare for the game as a good warm up can often be the difference between wining and losing

  78. Oxymoron Says:

Along with the other points stated above, I'd like to make a few too.

I remember in football manager 2000 (The EA sports one) that the player was able to choose which part of the stadium needs to be expanded, build clubs, shopping complexes, car park etc. Adding these would be nice.

The manager should also have a discretion to choose a fan day.

Changes in formats of different competitions every few years and changes in laws should also be considered.

With a topical comment based on the champions league ("anelka") you should be able to tell your bench players to warm up. When not warmed up their condition should be low and then it rises quickly to 100 as they warm up. Add more tacticality.

I'd also like to see money matching the money real life managers get to spend on transfers, because all clubs have lots of money these days.

Also, could you chairman buy debt to offer you more money if you want more money and recon you can take the club places.

I think in the new football manager they need to have all the kits and badges of the clibs in the premiership as they havn't put them on FM 2008. Also the game needs to be more realistic. I find that the scorelines in games can be really stupid. Also i find that in games that the goals scored by teams are out of the ridiculous sometimes....Alot needs to be imoproved in the opinion otherwise i'm not going to bother with the new one.

    Add new player interaction comments.

Or you should be able to write your own.

  89. Anonymous Says:

Greater in depth discussions. So when buying a player you should have to convince them to come if they are not interested. You should also have more interaction with your squad. If a player is unhappy about something, e.g. lots of players coming in, you should be able to interact more with them. Also the team talks could be more varied, maybe getting a real manager to think up some more examples.

I think Scouting and training are the two other areas that need developing rather than the Chairman area. At the moment they feel too simplistic.

If clubs could interact more realistically, e.g. Clubs like Chelsea should be like Chelsea and should offer massive amounts for your players. This would be good as I have players who are going to become good, but clubs only offer their current value, whereas clubs should offer over the value for exciting young players. Also more bids for players who are transfer listed would be good. Also more actual bids and less enquirys from other clubs.

Also you should be able to approach the chairman for extra funds if a player you want is going to be great. E.g. I had a bid for a future star accepted that was £2.5m when in the future they would be worth £20m. I should have been able to ask the board for more money to buy that player as I was £1m short and couldnt sell my reserve players in time. Then his price rose massively and he had agreed a contract and everything. I should have been able to tell my board he would be a star player and they should have reacted by giving enough money to buy him.

i think that there should be a youth day where unsigned youngsters go to clubs to try out for the youth team, and where are the players agents? and what happened to players getting sponsored by nike or addidas? and i think club scientist should be involved in training and making kits like in real life.... like how rooney has special boot to protect his "fragile" feet, i think a 3d engine needs to be put in place, and weekly training report, and i would like to see major improvements to the tactics department, when i tell my players to lurk outside area they end up in the six yard box, and player description should be better when a strikers strength is 18 i think he can be classed as a powerful striker and you should be able to mold young player, like tell a you quick striker he should try to beat the offside, and another thing that needs looking at is dis-allowed goals, i get like 6 or 7 a months sometimes 3 in a game..... i cant bare it.... if anyone wants to talk.... about football manager gho-sta@hotmail.co.uk and one thing fm09 should steal from champ man is the post match report thing

  91. Tom Says:

I think it would be interesting if a famous player (Let's say, a German international) transfers to a league which is classed as a 'fierce rival' of the national team (i.e - to the English Premiership.) - and the player may become unsettled by targetted nation-related abuse from opposition fans. Different players could react in different fashions, and it would add another element of man-management to the game.

More media interaction is definitely needed as i feel the way it it currently can get a bit monotenous and i now just select the same answers pretty much all the time. Another one is the option to "tap" a player up by speaking to him behind his clubs back. you would run the risk of a complaint being made and a possible fine but would make players that are currently near impossible to sign a bit more possible. With regards to the comment above i don't think slagging off players ever works (look at Benitez). Every time i have dismissed a players ability he always plays a 9 or a 10 against me!

    - I personnaly think that after your sponsership deal runs out you should be able to have offers on the table and pick a whatever one u want and mayb deisgn your own strip.

    - Have rights for the premierships ie: strips, sponsors etc etc

    - Live your own life as a manager as you are getting paid in Fm 08 and doing nothing with it mayb you could get paid and go out to spend it or something basically have a social life.

    - I know this is quite bad but have teams being able to tap players up so it is more realistic but the consequences could be severe if caught.

    any 1 agree?

  100. Kevin Says:

"I know this is quite bad but have teams being able to tap players up so it is more realistic but the consequences could be severe if caught."

I agree the consequences could be bad but it would be the club that would be punished more than the manager so if you pulled it off without getting caught it would be funny.

I have another idea. When you win a trophy it would be good if it cut to a scene of the players celebrating and lifting the trophy. Often when you win something you want to revel in your glory for 5 minutes cos often its the result of many hours of hard work then when you win the board congradulate you and thats it!

  101. Anonymous Says:

I quite like the idea of being able to have more interaction with players, media and the chairman.

I agree with the scouting and how the player would actually fit into the team and would like to see the option to see the second strongest lineup return instead of just strongest and youth team.

Tapping up players sounds good as it would add realism, with some teams doing it more than others. It would also be good if teams transfer habits come into the game more, for example West Ham tend to buy english players where Arsenal go for foriegn youth.

It would also be good to be approached more if you do a good job at a better club instead of being offered to become the national coach of somewhere like Mexico!

And the last improvements i would like to see would be to have more realisitic transfer budget and the board becoming more flexible with funds if they think the player will be a big success at the club even though he is out of the transfer budget.

I agree with this comment as it would as realism to the game :) i would like to add to this idea - when u win a trophy after celebrating u shld b able to put it into ur trophy room a view ur trophys.

    - Also u shloud also b able to hav a tour of the stadium wen u want it ie. board room, trophy room etc etc.

    - U should also b allowed to hav charity work and get ur players 2 volunteer for it or u volunteer them and build ur clubs reputation.

-You should be able to comment during the match.

    -Media communication should be better.

-Maybe make like a "match engine" for training, then you would be able too control the team more and work hard on your strategies.

-Make the game engine more realistic.

-Player instructions, you dont want your entire midfield shooting from 20-30 yards out when only one of them are good at it.

-You should be able to spend your money (or they could just remove it completely, no point of having it if it has no use.)

    - Choose your own favourite player(only players you are working/have worked with.

-Faces of players, there are gonna be patches anyway.(unless this is lisenced, im not sure)

-THIS ONE THING I HATE: I allways play in low ranked clubs, and when i get a high bid on a player then the club says something like "this bid is too good to be turned down" and they sell the player. And sometimes i dont have enough time left to find another player in his posision, and i get a bad season because of that.(They should at least let me know: " if we get a 10 mill bid on this player we will sell" So i get enough time to get good replacement.

    - Allso the players are very emotional, so if you say something they might take it the wrong way, then there is no turning back. (It could be this way but then you should have better communication to explain the situation)

-All of this becomming a scout, chairman, buy your own clubs etc: these are good ideas, but not for Football Manager. Assistant manager could be a good idea to make the game a little longer lasting, but when you can be manager, why would you be Assistant manager`? I wouldnt.

-Real team song(cheering) in my eyes is not something FM needs.

    - I dont think it will happen at FM 2009, but a 2D engine would have made the game much better.

The last thing i wanna say, i think your ideas for the game are great, but most of them would fit better in different and new games.

    Please comment my comments :)

I remember the first patch of 08' with all the disallowed goals, and the seemingly non-existant team consistancy (e.g. you beat Chealsea at home and then lose away to Derby..)
Also, with transfers I think they could improve the realism - I loaned out Bojan to Fulham and he scored 17 goals and won young player of the year, but the next season, no one would take him on loan again??

    Hi,

SI have to do better when playing in the outside-top-league-contries.
Im playing the Swedish league but they do not consider rivalty nor derby history. In Gothenburg, all teams (in real life) always drew or win by 1 goal, but in FM 2008 one team always win by 4 sometimes 6 goals. One team, IFK Göteborg is good, and is always in top of the leqague (in real life too), but when palying a derby, they always draw or losing a derby. But not in FM 2008, they win big.
Its all about numbers and calculations in the match engine, not anything on history.
Another thing. Im always asking the assistant manager to pick my team, beacause we (managers) dont know about the training performance of any players between matches. Rotating players is lottery, you dont know if the player is in form or trained well. You have 4 MC, all are match fit, but you dont know which player is best for just that match, and which player is best on MC right or MC left.

i've been playin football manager games for a long time and i think its time si sorted sum stuff out.
they need to produce a fully working game 1st time round, less need for all these additional patches, some element of spending earnings made in-game, training feedback, better player-manager relationships e.g. talks meetings more realistic contract and signing procedures. Better additional features e.g. training camps special days, extended youth system gameplay, some element of 3d play. increases staff responsibilty e.g. perhaps a lawyer for those apeals which never go your way !!! Better publicity e.g.interviews pre/post match conferences, conferences for new players or to increase/decrease speculations on transfer. There needs to be an element of control over satdium building. Feedback form crowd on matchday, ability to warm up layers etc. training set plays/tattics. FM08 was poor but i hope fm09 will be better. the content is there but ascetically and with additional features e.g. youth camps its falling way behind fifa manager etc.

What I think it would be great and i really want to see in fm 09 are the junior groups from 10 or 11 years old just like in fifa manager. And you could promote them yourself when they are old enough if you think they deserve to.
Also you should be able to choose your feeder club, recommend it to the board, and they should try to make it a feeder club.
Also it would be nice if you could buy a small club and make it your "C" team(considering you allready have a "B" team).
Another great thing would be if you could manage the club's facilities(the stadium, training pitches, youth academy. etc...).
oh, and more players coming from the youth academy should be born in the city your team is from, especially when it's a small club that your managing.

I think on FM 09 we should be able to talk to our players during the matches, give rollicking etc. The younger players coming through the system should be much better, rather than the odd class act every 2-3 years. I think the idea of spending the salaries on betting (risking the press reaction of bribery) would be a great way of building a reputation. Finally I hope that FM09 can get the positions right e.g. for Walsall: Alex Nicholls is not a right winger!!!

  121. Anonymous Says:

I believe the transfer system used has to undertake a big change. It's too hard to buy players from clubs, as the asking price is always well over what you should be paying. Also in real life there is a lot more loaning with a view to a permanent transfer with big players e.g. the Duke for Derby. If I tried to loan Ellington i'd get knocked back straight away so transfers have to be sorted out.

  122. mozza Says:

    1) id like to see a sort of team chemistry thing, i know that the fans say that they hope you dont sign a player because he might disrupt the harmony, but i never know the difference (for example if i signed a volatile player like drogba, anelka etc, and played them in games id like to see how the teams gels with them and without them).

    2) id also like to see a sort of option to buy on a loan deal, example i was sunderland and signed soldado on loan, he did v good and kept me up, i offered 2 buy him, rejected, i offered to loan him again and they said they do not wish to loan this player because of his 1st team duties, he then sat in the reserves for a whole season, so id like to see an option 2 buy set by the loaner of the player.

3)id like to see the potential ability of players a bit more consisten, i use geniescout to get some good young players, ever banega on one game was 198/200 pa, i started a new game he was 157/200

    4) id like a bit more help form my assitant when it comes to commenting on dubious decisions and appealing for red cards, the ammount of times ive got fined and banned for my comments annoy me as because of the graphics u cannot see what has happened so you have to guess, id like to see him say that the assistant feels that you should criticise the decision for the referee givin a penner or wotever.

    5) id like to see agents get more involved also, stuff like saying their client wants a move to such a club, and when you are doing a transfer, if you have done more deals with certain agents its easier to sign players they are clients of. Also buy out contracts is a genious idea.

    6) id like to see the fans/stadium/form have an impact also, for example if you win a couple of games on the spin at home, teams are less confident going there than if you had been loosing for ages, and if you are doing well the fans can motivate your team, like if you score a goal and are 3-2 down they will spur you in 2 grab a 3rd. The stadium also, if you have a high hardcore fans percentage in the stadium, they should make it so that certain teams and players are intimidated and do not perform as well.

let me know what you think

  123. Tommy Safc Says:

I totally agree with mozza, the assistants are useless on refereeing decisions, and i always get fines and bans.
Also, you should be able to recommend your own possble feeder club, and the board should look into the possibilties of this.
More consistency would be nice, for example, as sunderland i won 3-1 away to arsenal with a 4-5-1, then got beat 3-0 at home to boro, who at that point were on a run where they had lost all 6, scoring no goals in the process, and their only striker in the game against me was tom craddock :S
Betting is rather annoying also, as it is totally inconsistent, and favours the bigger teams. I won the league with sunderland in my 5th season, and then next season i was 200-1. And in the games where i won the league, teams near th bottom would be favourites at home simply because of home advantage. Also, you should be allowed to bet on matches, like, have a certain amount of your personal fortune available to gamble to win some money, and potentially put this into your own club for extra transfers.
Its also unfair that, on one game other teams can pay next to nothing for a player, and when you try to buy him, the cost goes through the roof, this is very unrealistic, as is when people turn you down to play for championship clubs because they offer slightly more money. In january i was top of league by a farmers field, and i was turned down for a championship club who actually offered £2,300 a week less than i did, but the player turned me down because the other team had 'better prospects' or some bullshit story.
Another thing that irritates me is that as soon as a player scores, his rating goes up, even if he has had an awful game. And keepers rake in a lot more man of the match performances.
You should also be able to vote your player of the season, young player of the season, clubs player of the month etc.

Another ting needs to be improved is player interaction and pre/ post match interaction there needs to be more options.

I agree with most of the people posting here. Something i would like very much to feature in FM 09 is if you as manager could try different tactics on the training ground and watch how it works out. Maybe try a different corner-style, like bringing adebayor to the first post and lengthen the corner to bendtner in the middle and he scores the goal. And if that works out on the training grounds you could try it on the actual match.
Or possibly a freekick variant, a way to defend and then counter-attack, passing to walcott and let him run a good 30 metres and then put it to fabregas who then passes a troughball to van persie who srikes on first touch.
And maybe let Toure and Van Persie try some long-range freekicks and see who does it best. ANYTHING should be possible to try in training.
I think this would be very usefull to me as manager, to see how different tactics works out. The training ground should be in the same "mode" as the match pitch and the dots is the players as usual.
    Please comment on my thoughts!

I agree that the money you earn should be used in the game, ethier have a shop you can buy extras in or do some kind of interaction with your managers life 'outside' of football.

There should be more interviews etc. not only to do with things about football but also to do with recent news or your personal life. This could adjust how the football world thinks about you and can affect if you get jobs in the future.

Buying players should be changed, its too hard to buy some players. Alot of players bought by the bottom teams in the prem are bought for under the selling price, somtimes for nothing at all. This hardly ever happens in game. Players should be sold cheap if they have a bad season or there teams having financial difficulty's.

I disagree with the becoming a chairman business, you should be able to have meetings etc with him however and build a firm relationship to secure your place in the team. This is the same with players and fans.

The world Cup, african nations and Euro Cup should all be in more depth. News updates should be pouring it while it is going on.

I Think That u Should Be Able To Choose Foreign Branches.
What I Mean Is Under a Title "Finance" You Should Be Able to Pick a Country In a Different Continant such as Ghana In Africa Then you Should Be Given The Choice Of Which Products To Sell Such as Home Kits, Away Kits, Football, Scarfs Etc.
Of Course, There Should be a Price To The Branching. If you Spend £3 Million on Branching your team to a Different Country, Then £3 Million Worth Of Club Products Could Be Sold In The Choosen Foreign Branch.

Also, Red Card Appeals. You Should Be able to be given a higher possibility of a red card being overturned.
Iv Had Football Manager sinse 04 - 08 & Not Once Have I Had a Red card Overturned.

FM need cleverer features like warming up your subs before they come on. So you could click on team warm up or player warm up whilst the game is playing so that the player is fully fit before he comes on to play. You could then see your players jogging round the pitch.

FM 2009 needs to be easier to sell players. I can offer Ronaldo or Rooney to clubs at a cut price and have no takers??

In general the only way to sell is to have someone interested. Otherwise you end up stuck with the player.

  158. Anonymous Says:

Needs to be easier to sell players. Must be easier to loan players out, especially when young, e.g. players under 22 should be more willing to go out on loan. Also young players should be more willing to move as they never want to move until when they are 17 when they suddenly do.

  159. Anonymous Says:

I think we should also put more focus on Language Barrier.... which can be resolved by hiring a coach who can understand both Manager and Player.

Unrealistic money which I have always seen in a club like Bolton and Blackburn they ar paying 15 to 20 million for a single player should be edited.

If an offer has been accepted for a star player there should be some threat which can be given to the board from the Manager, Players and Fans...

Some sort of 3D element during matches.

A more graphical experience. For instance when you lead a small club to glory over a long period of years which also include the clubs stadium to expand. It would be nice to see once hard work flourish and be able to see the stadium grow.

Regarding the chairman signing players by himself i seem to to remember Roman Abramovich forcing me to sign Sanli Tuncay on FM06 or 07 so did they take this feature out?! Also I remember on an old version of Championship Manager you had to attend meetings with managers from other clubs to sign one of their players. I think this was a great idea. Also when appointing new staff you interviewed them beforehand etc. I think if you had post match interviews, which were interactive it would be a good idea so you could build up a reputation and identity. Anyone else think these would be good ideas?

i love football manager but i recon good games that could be made would be like football player and football chairman where u get diffrent tasks for the role you choose to play, For instance its all in one game but if u choose player you can play in the games and influence the score by the way you play in the match for your team possibly after a few season become a manager and play the managing game then advance onto chairmans role like in the real football world

I also like the idea of spanding your cash so u can try to ho0ld out for the best deals on contracts not just accepting any off they give you

and better interactionw with the mdeia would be better, because sometime you just cant get your point accross properly and that isnt realistic

  175. DARREN Says:

A FEW THINGS NEED TO CHANGE, SUCH AS:
    1. TRANSFERS
IT NEEDS TO BE MORE REALISTIC, IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE A PLAYER YOU NEED TO PAY WELL OVER THE ODDS, IN MANY CASES THREE TIMES THE PLAYERS AMOUNT TO GOT HIM BUT TEAMS WANTING TO PRIZE YOUR TOP PLAYERS DONT MAKE THESE STUPID BUT BIDS LIKE THAY SHOULD
    2. MONEY
YOU SELL PLAYERS AND BUILD UP A BIG TRANSFER BUDGET, GET TO THE END OF THE YEAR AND YOUR CLUB/SHAREHOLDERS AND EVERY OTHER TOM DICK AND HARRY DIPS IN AND YOU CANT BUY THAT ONE OVER PRICED PLAYER ANY MORE. INTRODUCE TRANSER BUDGET ACCOUNT SO YOU CAN SAVE UP YOUR MONEY FOR STAR PLAYERS AND OUT BID OTHER TEAMS

I agree with some of the early comments. I think the salary that YOU as the manager gets should be able to be spent on personal things such as a bigger house, a swimming pool, something like that. Also, i think you could become a player in the game and have him in your team.

  181. Nick R Says:

A few suggestions for the new FM09.

All in all 08 is a great game, however, I think the whole repetitiveness of it needs improving amongst a few other little improvements which all add up to make the game the most realistic it can be.. let me know what you think.

    Board/upper staff
What would be good is if you can see chairman stats (e.g. generosity, patience, ambition, faith in manager, reasons why at club [financial gain/love for club?]. This would certainly add more realism.

Its not managers job to decide on ticket prices, stadium development, but it would be better if chairman consulted you over these items. Also would be good to have more interactions with the board. Like asking for a wedge of money not currently in your budget for a specific big name - which would produce a lot of revenue in shirt sales.

If your chairman accepts a big money offer from a club, you should be able to react to it.

Agreed it would be good to be able to actually use your own personal wealth. However, exactly how this would affect the game play I am not sure?

Technical director/director of football roles need to be introduced, again with their own job specific stats (reputation amongst players/agents, ambition, judging potential/ability, job independence, respect for manager, relationship to chairman). E.g. if they have high job independence, and low respect for manager they will just go and sign players whether you like it or not.

    Scouting
Good scouts would give better player reports, pointing out specific traits and strengths that they would bring to your team, not just “this player would be a decent signing”. Would prefer, “signing xxxxx would bring added pace to the front line which we are distinctly lacking, although due to his lack of composure, his finishing isn’t much better to what we have currently – I’d look elsewhere if I were you boss”

You should be able to send a scout to watch a team train for a week. To give you a concise report on all players, staff mentalities and tactics.

    Agents
Perhaps player agents should feature more prominently in the game as they have such a big influence in real life? Something to consider…

    Training/Tactics
Would be good to have option to train abroad during preseason, like in real life.
VERY IMPORTANT - Need to be able to practice specific set piece drills, and then see them come into life on match day. Manger needs complete control over which player does what in a certain set piece sequence. Also have the AI pick up on this and become able to stop the move if it is used more than once/twice in a game.

If you concede 2 goals from set pieces in a game, you should be able to interact with your head coach/asst man to specifically iron out the problems with defending corners – and then report back to you with the players progress that week. (perhaps he may inform you that the way you set up players positions when defending corners leaves you exposed)

Agreed that it would be much better to be able to set up ‘player instructions’ as per the specific player, as opposed to positional instructions. Cant be very time consuming if you want to switch a few people around before/during a game.

    Player Interactions (Match)
You should be able to issue in game instructions, not just at half time. i.e. telling a player to calm down if he’s been booked for pushing or arguing with the line-o, or telling you def mid to chase down every last ball, or your captain to rally the troops to pull their finger out and get the result as there’s only 10 mins left, or to keep their heads and hold the result.

    Player Interactions (Off Pitch)
If 2 players are not seeing eye to eye, you should be able to ask them directly what their problem is in order to try and resolve the issue. You should also be able to ask your asst man to keep an eye on the both of them to ensure the situation doesn’t blow out of proportion (ie training pitch bust ups – like in real life)

Option to remove players from full international competitions if they have a niggle/injury or have just come back from injury and are tired – then more media interaction giving int man/you/player reactions and possibly stirring up a rut between all parties.

    Media
Better interaction is needed with the media. I.e, preseason you can tell them/or they ask you your aspirations for the coming season, if you want new players, if you want to bolster the squad, if you want a new superstar in a certain position, if you want to trim the squad, if you think they are too old. If you think they are going to clean up in all competitions. Post season your reaction to players, team on a whole. Post-match/pre-match press conferences.

You should be able to build up relationships with difference papers/reporters so you don’t get as slated in the press for a bad performance, but if you ignore other papers they will make your life difficult and ask you awkward questions that you perhaps don’t want to answer (all of which your players could react to).

Better build up to cup final days. More media speculation during the week running up to the big day. (also being able to interact with players if they are feeling the pressure (to ease their worries).

The international pressure and expectations is a very good idea. E.g. if England get just a couple of slightly dodgy results, the press give them a true mauling and you will need a big result to win everyone back over.

    Other
Job offers need to be tweaked. If you have won many comps and have a fantastic rep, then other big clubs may be interested in signing you and may try to tap you up. Also national teams will want you as their manager.

You should be able to accept jobs from any league, not just your chosen leagues; you should be able to change your chosen playing leagues in-game.

Would be good to see referee profiles/stats introduced.

Anyway, I think all the above detail would add a much more realistic feel to the game as a whole.

    hi guys,
erm i think that there should be more interaction all round. The manager with the media, the manager with the players and the manager with the chairman.
There should be more social features with the players, for example the players seen on the town the night before, training ground bust up.
Also i belive that when a contract renewal is due for a player the manager should appraoch the chairman asking to extend the contract of a certain player. Like in real life, for example Alex Ferguson doesn't personally deal with Wayne Rooney's contract extention. The chairman and the board do.
I like the board takeovers on the game but for example, Blackburn are brought by a Ecuadorian board then then appoint David O Leary as manager??! :S a bit unrealistic for me!!
Also formations..... its rare to get a formation that isn't 4-4-2 to work, i've had 3-5-2 work but not many other formations. Maybe thats just me lol!
I also think that a players footballing upbringing/style should play more of a part.
Also, leagues lower down then the Blue Square North/South!
    Thats me done!! lol!

  190. Mihai Says:

Every club should be allowed to expand their stadium as long as the club has results..let say I play with the Romanian club Steaua Bucharest(that has in the game the limit of 27.000 stadium,I can't built it bigger)..let's say as a manager I win the Uefa Cup or the Champions League and had a very good year in the internal league,I think there should be a bonus for this, lets say the posibility of making 500 new seats for winning the league(with this bonus 'expiring' at about 50000 seats),1000 new seats for winning the Uefa Cup(this bonus expiring at about 80,000 seats) and the posibility of making 2000 new seats for winning the Champions League(so with a 6th league english team that has a stadium of 5000 seats I can built up on it and take it to about 120,000 seats if I get it on top!)...also as a national manager I think I should get money when hired by a nation and the posibility to choose the stadium where the team will play!

  191. Anonymous Says:

  192. Stephen Says:

I believe there should be detailed feedback from your assistant after every game. For example if you were Man Utd manager he could say: Rooney's finishing last game was poor he missed a few clear cut chances we should work on this in training. Or Nani as outstanding today we should acknowledge this in the media. He should also comment on the ref: Today's referee was terrible and i believe we should lodge a complaint then give u the option to complain. You should also be allowed to apply for special transfer dispensation outside the transfer window.
